Engine Rattle- 2006 cobalt ss s/c
Hey guys, I'm pretty bummed out about what happened today. Yesterday I took the car to work and back it was just fine. Today when I turned it on I noticed this rattling sound. I did some research and apparently this is from either one of the following:
1) Tensioner
2) Timing belt
3) Coupler
4) Parking on an incline? (Don't ask)... I do park on an incline though.
I took a video for you guys. I'm a total Zero when it comes to cars, and I appreciate any help and advice.

I'm pretty poor right now (university tuition) so I'm hoping this will not be an expensive fix.
One last thing, could you post the part numbers or even better, a link to where I can buy the necessary part from?
Thanks again

I would think thats the cam chain tensioner,to verify put your hand on the cam cover .
You should be able to feel the chain rattling inside.
Or use a long handled srew driver as a stethascope by holding it to your ear and touching the blade end to where you think the noise is coming from to pin point it,(warning if you have long hiar dont get it caught in the belt)

Prolly the timing chain tensioner but it's worth checking your build date to see if it fall in the range below .
This was kind of a "secret TSB" that Fr33K stumbled across years ago . When I looked it up in 08 they had taken all traces of it out of GM Service Information ( i had a dealerworld account till my local dealer closed ) So I kept a copy saved cause I had an 06 SS/SC at the time. If they give you any **** ...print it out and take it in .

2.2 ENGINE (VIN D OR F - RPO L61)
2.4 ENGINE (VIN B OR P - RPO LE5)
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
CONDITION/CONCERN:
On rare occasions, a tick or rattle noise may be heard from behind the front cover of the engine and/or pieces of a timing chain roller may be found during an oil change. This may be the result of a timing chain concern.
Non-heat treated timing chain rollers were randomly installed in the assembly line hoppers. He advised that this happened sometime between 4/1/06 - 11/1/06 so it can randomly affect late 2006 - early 2007 models.
RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS:
If this concern is experienced, inspect the timing chain for missing or damaged timing chain rollers. If a missing or damaged timing chain roller is found, replace the timing chain and gears using the part numbers currently listed in the parts catalog.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Thanks guys.

I called in to GM and they said it was a TSB but not covered for me since the powertrain warranty expired. The only ones left are: Corrosion, Special Coverage 08020, and Emission select component Warranties.
Should it be replaced free? Or can I get it under the "special coverage warranty"?
I'm scared about replacing it myself because of the timing jump issues some people have been having.
