it's an electronic throttle. check your connectors at the throttle body and make sure that you connected everything back securely.

How do you determine it's revving more than it should? If you're actually in gear your RPM will increase in relation to your speed... Unless your clutch is slipping.

In neutral... or in gear with clutch in, if you rev it, the tach is slow and will always go up a bit even after you take your foot off the gas...

Well I figured before it started doing this the rpm would stay solid with the speed of the vehicle. But now when I add gas it revs harder than it should and sounds like I'm trying to go fast when really I'm just following traffic.

And it was doing it before the throttle body was cleaned. We put it back together exactly as it was before.

I am just looking for advice before I have to spend a couple hundred to just figure it out from a shop.

How are people blowing clutches so early in these cars? IMO a clutch should last at LEAST 100,000 miles, no exceptions.

Well I have had a wheel fixed before because of hitting black ice last winter and it was a front wheel. I'll blame them for not fixing it when they told me they was no transmission work needed. Besides I don't run my car that hard so they better cover it.

Ok so far it's come down to that everyone believe's the clutch is slipping. How should I drive it then? I read up on some other posts and seems like others have the same problem as I do and people say you should shift over 3k rpm's. But my thing is even if i am not shifting over 3k, how the hell can the clutch be slipping only after 20k miles? I don't eve race very often and treat the car very well. You'd think my warranty would cover it right? Especially when a bunch of people have the same problem. But also when I hit a curb and tore up the wheel on the front, they told me that no tranny work was needed. So hopefully I can go after them for that.

except that clutches arent covered under warranty.

the "bunch" of other people with this issue is about 7% of the cobalt population on this site, trust me, this issue has been debated to death.
and even though youll likely get pissed at me, its because about 7% of the population dont know how to drive these cars properly, and roast their clutches

Nah its cool. The cobalt is my first stick car. I understand what you're saying. I'd do the same.

This is the number one problem. The SS/SC has a very hard clutch to drive, and it is not a clutch I would ever have someone new learning on. The problem is that the car has quite a bit of power and torque and even the slightest bit of riding the clutch will burn it up quick.

my clutch has actually gotten better over time it used to slip when i was stock after like 6k miles (i learned to drive stick on the car) but as my driveing got better the clutch came back to me now i have tranny mounts a custom tune intake and full exhaust and it grabs just fine. its all about how you drive the car. im at the point now were 90% of the time when starting from a stop im off the clutch befor i get to 1300rpm smooth as glass the othe 9% ill be off the clutch by 1600rpm and the other 1% im on a hill or just plain old **** up lol

There are ways to tell if your clutch is the problem...if your going down the road and u step on it...ur engine revs up and u dont feel the car grab for a bit...u need a clutch. otherwise im assuming u have a stage 1 or 2 kit on your superchrger that could be causing an innacurate tach which is normal operation believe or not.
