ok i have the 2.2 cobalt 5spd. my problem is that no matter what gear im in if i just hit the gas it jumps up about 600-800 rpms then goes back down before it catches is this normal? its almost like im riding the clutch and giving it gas but im not. any hel[p or ideas much aprreciated.

 

i guess i'm having trouble understanding you. So you're saying that as you let the clutch out it goes back down or when your foot is still on the gas it goes back down?

 

okay im not using the clutch at all. when i hit the gas at any speed in any gear it jumps up first about600-800rpm then goest back down and accelerates

 

sounds like a clutch problem to me, get it checked at the dealer
