Engine running hotter and hotter!!!??
Well I've noticed lately through my instrument centre computer my coolent temps are getting higher and higher! Now they normaly run about 87celcius to 91 even when I push her.. But today just sitting idle in the shade she went up to 105celcius and kept going up till I started driving
Now you can't tell me thats normal cause hell last summer she barely hit 100c!! And today when I was out was lucky if it was +10c and there was a cool wind to boot
I'm going to check all here fluids etc tomorrow morning b4 I do anything but I know I'm not burning or leaking anything soo..
I have been running Lucas fuel treatment and that will now discontinue till I figure out
is wrong.. Maybe I baby my car to much??
Oh and I'm running a 2.4L if anyone has any ideas? thanks

I've seen 223-225 Farenheit before the fans come on when sitting still idling, at a drive-thru or such. 105C converts to 221F according to my covnersions program, so you are fine. As long as it goes back down when driving, or the fans come on when it gets over that, then you are fine.

My coolant temps will go above 200 degrees if I'm idling in traffic... I don't like it... but this car does run at a high temperature... just the way it is.
Here's a tip though... if you see your coolant temps getting up there... turn on the A/C for 5 mins and watch the temp drop. Turning on the A/C activates the secondary cooling fan.

Ok thanks everyone.. I just think its odd its doing that now is all.. I do think I may stop using Lucas fuel treatment though just to see if that makes a difference, I'll keep you updated..
Hey I've had this happen to me only once in the lifetime of my Cobalt. It was pretty bad rush hour traffic inching slowly towards a bridge. My coolant temps went up to about 104-105 degrees Celsius, then I think the radiator fan turned on because it started dropping steadily to 88 and then balanced back out at 90.
I don't think it's anything to worry about.
