Engine smell like it's burning?

I am getting a wierd "burning" smell from the engine, and it also happens whenever you turn on the heat or A/C, the whole car smells like burnt toast...anyone else getting this? What is this usually indicative of?

if its when the AC is on, its likely something to do with your belt, or the AC compressor clutch.

Dealership time.

(ive already had 1 clutch replaced)

Ya it was wierd, I thought the problem always existed, but it seems to only occur when I have the AC on and am really hammering the engine, then even if I turn off the AC, the smell is still there even 2 hours later...not sure what's going on, hopefully it has nothing to do with the fender bender i got into (cobalt might me lighter but nothing compares to the brakes in the Equinox!! that thing could stop on a dime)

I get that only if I have a heavy acceleration moment and then slow down quick.
It can be:
A) the brakes
B) that POS plastic cover is getting toasted (it has a foam lining on the inside)
