Exhaust CEL and Sunroof Plastic..??

Hey guys. Two questions.

1. I got my GMPP cat-back thrown on today. Everything was great, but then like five minutes later, on the highway, the cel came on. Great. I asked my friend with the same exhaust if his did this. He said no. Maybe an O2 sensor he says..? This a sensible idea? I know the front one in the dp is on, but didn't look for the rear.. This was a used exhaust and me and the kid threw it on so I'm honestly not sure.. If it's not that, any other ideas?

2. The infamous trim ring that goes around the sunroof trigger fell off last week. Can't get it back up in there and stay. WTF do I do to get it to stay? lol.

Thanks guys.

1. That certainly sounds like an O2 sensor. What puzzles me is that you said you put it on yourself, but you don't know where the rear sensor is. Sounds fishy to me.

2. The search button is your friend. Look in the how-tos.

The only two o2 sensors we have are in the exhaust manifold and in the downpipe. I still dont understand why this cel light came on? The wierd thing is, we didnt even look at the downpipe or anything. We just put this exhaust on and left.

said it before, and i'll say it again. a loud fart will throw a cel in a cobalt.

just get the code scanned, otherwise no one can help. may have nothing to do with the exhaust at all.

Welp, it went away. Drove the car for two days now with nothing. So I guess that after the initial CEL, it just had to reset it's self and it was ok.. Works for me. lol.

Wrong. The error code is still stored in the memory of your ECM. Since you have no idea what turned on the CEL in the first place since you haven't had it scanned, you don't know what the problem was. So, again, still.... Go get it scanned.

I notice you live in Pittsburg. There is a large group of people on the board from there that are all tuners with scanners. If you don't want to go to a dealership, then talk to one of them.

No no no. I certainly will have it scanned, but since there's no apparent issue, there's no major rush.. It needs inspected soon anyway, so I'll just have them do a full go over then. We know them really good so they are good to us..
