did you check to make sure everything is tight? it will be easy to figure out where the sound is coming from if you can get under the car, and tap the exhaust. see where the rattle is coming from. because "there's a sound coming from the exhaust or somewhere else" is a little vague. i would get under there and bang around a little, try to narrow the sound down. could be a heat shield or loose bolt, could be something else.

could be something as simple as a loose hanger. hard to say without knowing a lil more though. best of luck!
