i believe a great deal of the tranny/clutch problems from this forum is inexperience driving or giving the car to much hell.. sorry but im 99% positive this is the true reason.. i have not had 1 single problem with my car and im at 7k miles but i have also been driving sticks all my life.. and i give the car hell at least 1 time a day but i have also dragged quite a few times to where i dont have mishifts/grinding/rpm hops and the what not... people should probably learn the car better before giving so much hell
I couldn't agree more. This car, contrary to many who drive it, is not a little boys/girls car. It a serious engine that can and will damage itself if you don't know how to drive a manual or are just a ******* with how you drive.

I broke my transmission as well. And I'm not an inexperienced manual trans driver.
Getting the car into violent wheel hop is what appears to have done it in in my case. There also possibly could have been a defect, it broke so bad no one will ever know. Broke the case even.
It took the dealer about 2 weeks to locate a new one....mine had the LSD.
I was given a free rental, and treated very well.
The part number for the LSD trans BTW is....55560938

Really? Damn I have wrecked my car (Whole front end, driver's side, some underneath stuff), blown my clutch, and ordered various items for my Ion and they all make it to me NEXT DAY shipped for free. I guess you guys just bought the wrong car.

Tell your dealer that, since it is included with new vehicle warranty and they wont give it to you, you want at least 4 taxi vouchers for every single day the car is not in your hands and working.

check you states lemon laws immediately...

good luck on getting them to buy it back though...only way that will happen (in nc at least) is if you out of the car for like 20 some days i think i forget, or this happens consecutively with other problems...

and BTW, if this was ferrari, they would sent over a italian check to "spit polish your bald head" (wink wink nudge nudge) while you waited. along with a new suit that forces your neck into a position that you are forced to look down your nose and things, plus a free comp'ed pimp cane made of the bones of gary coleman...

yup.
i've had Isuzu 5-speeds, Muncie 4-speeds, TH125's and Getrag's, raced every one of them and beat the hell out of each one. Each one went over 200,000 miles without breakage (other than the axles seals leaking a bit)... i'm thinking maybe it might not be the transmissions fault... maybe?

No this does not happen all the time. You simply got a bad clutch. Which DOES happen from time to time. However you really need to chill out a bit, no one (including GM) is going to take you very seriously when you are screaming mad. :P

Ditto. Where I went you had to be at least 21, but did not have to be 25. Now the car can break all it wants because I AM 25.

Yea the cobalt is a new car, the SS isn't up to bar honetly to handle hte power level it has. Like the F-bods did with their crappy stock clutches and weak ass s-10 rears. SO parts breakign is a thing that will happen. So you jus need to suck it up and wait patiently. Insist in a loaner though and if they dont' give it to you check your warrenty then pwn them with the fact that it's written on paper that you get one.
