Fast ticking noise while accelerating

My cobalt is making a somewhat quiet, but still noticeable ticking noise while the car is under load. (Sounds similar to a baby rattle) I don't think it is an exhaust leak. I checked the exhaust manifold the whole way back to the muffler. But honestly I don't know because starting yesterday I have been smelling exhaust fumes when I start my car and turn the air conditioning on... Please help!!

Yep it was the flex pipe. Nice call guys. So the oem part doesn't come with the the flex pipe. It comes with the cat.. Can I just buy the flex pipe by itself?? Sorry if that's a dumb question

For the price of a flex pipe and weld you could have bought a nicer downpipe and installed yourself. Depending on your car, go with ZZP and be happy with a better mod

ZZP sells replacement flex pipes on their website. $15, IIRC.
