Talking Faulty pressure plate = warrantied clutch

So as some of you know, my car had some issues recently. Clutch engagement went to the floorboard and shifting became really difficult. I inspected everything; no leaks of any kind. I decided to bleed my clutch to see if that would help.

It did help...... for 5 minutes. Lol. I came to a conclusion that either the slave cylinder or clutch master took a poop.

I took my car to the dealer, they agree and warranty a clutch master and slave cylinder. Problem. Solved? No. Upon further investigation they noticed my brake fluid had grey stuff in it. So they replaced the resivuor and flushed the system.... nada.

Finally, the dealership calls GM and apparently the pressure plate on some LNF's tend to malfunction. As a result I get a new clutch under warranty, right before I plan to do a turbo swap. Im pretty happy.

This whole issue started with me having trouble shifting. I started missing NLS into 4th and eventually 3rd. I had no grinding, it just kept locking me out. If anyone has this issue and you're sure its not the clutch master or slave cylinder, your pressure plate took a dump.

Im happy I got all this warrantied. My car has full bolt ons, rotated mounts, straight piped exhaust, suspension, fmic, a badass tune, the works, and the dealership didn't say anything about them.

That's dumb. I also have a forge bpv. U just gotta give em he'll and know the rules. Also I know more about my car than most of the techs there. That helps because they can't bs you.

You can't blame it on GM it's the dealership.

its a little of both i do hold the dealership responsible i mean they attempted to fix the car even ordred a new turbo to only come back to say it must be something wrong with the motor you have a bpv tough luck but in the same breath they are acting as an agent for GM so at some point they should step in i mean over 50 days its a bit much if you ask me

and then dealing with the customer service and the district specialist who all reside on argentina after while i've had enough

i am just glad to hear there are places out here that will actually look a persons car and honor the warranty on the product

Dart SI – I’m glad to hear that you’ve gotten your vehicle repaired and that you are very satisfied with your dealership! That’s what we like to hear!

JacBlackSS/TC – Sounds like you’ve had a bad experience with us, and I apologize. If there’s anything I can help with, please send me your information via private message (name, contact info, VIN, involved dealership).

Best,
Sarah

My fiance just went through all of this during the summer. His is an 06 and was completely out of warranty so had to do it all himself. Our local dealership said they havent heard of it before but mysteriously the new plate had reinforcement where his broke.. hmmmm. Car was down for 9 days, had to take out the ENTIRE interior but only cost him the price of the part. They definitely dont make it easy to replace one of those bastards that's for damn sure..

hahaha chevellegirl thats exactly what i said to a few people in the calgary thread about it. and the only reason the dash has to come apart is to get 1 bolt. thats it, if it wasn't for that 1 bolt you could do it without removing the dash.

i had a friend's cobalt do the same thing, cost him almost $3000 cdn to get it fixed at the dealer because of labour.

We got a ton of pics- entire interior sitting on the garage floor. Labor will KILL your bank acct in a heartbeat! The dealership said it would be about 1500 in labor to fix the plate- we said eff that real quick. We learned a lot that week tho!

lol ya, its because they charge straight time and not flat rate for a repair like that. and its not a quick job. the only reason it didn't cost my friend more then that was because he was my friend and because it was my brother who was the tech working on it. and he capped his hours.
