was coming home from the local parking lot tonite and the unthinkable happened... I pulled away from the intersection, shift 1st to 2nd ok, went from 2nd to 3rd and there was a POP from under the dash and then no clutch pedal... it was just flopping around. So i manage to get it back into 2nd gear and baby it up to my house. I'm somewhat pissed... 1400 miles and this? My 05 Cobalt coupe never had a failure like this in the 39,000 miles i drove it.

What a titanic pain in the ass.

[edit!] had the car towed to the dealership this morning. They hustled it right in and got their tech on it. He diagnosed it as exactly what my brother told me it was last night. The clip that holds the linkage (for lack of a better term) to the firewall had popped free. By the feel of the clutch now as opposed to when i picked it up, it had not been right right off the showroom floor. Covered under warranty... no hassles on that or the tow. In fact, the parts guy was trying to sell me a stage 2 kit for $490... Thanks, but maybe after income tax time.
