First run in with the Dealers service Dept!

So I drop it off dismorning at 7:30, (06 cobalt SS) Tell them four things, 1 the drivers side seat is loose only up and down. 2 theres a gouge 3/4 the way around on the lip of the left rear tire. 3 The hood when closed moves up and down 1/4-3/8. 4 the rear P/S seat belt is loose. I call at 3:30 pm for an update they tell me they are working on it. No problem I advise them I just need to know what the deal is before 5.

5:40 comes around I call them, the service tech tells me they fixed the rear seat rattle, they cant see the loose drivers seat , that all cobalts have a loose hood, and GM wont cover the wheel with a gouge in it from there god damn tire machine.

So i say the wheel is a manufactorer defect and was like that since I got the car. It isnt from a curb or some other devise and I never received a flat tire.

I tell him the seat is loose up and down and he wants me to come in and show him.

Jesus give me the car back and I will fix it myself if you dont want to do anything.

Anybody elses hood move up and down when it is closed? or the drivers seat?

Time to break out the beating stick

It sounds like the dealerships like the "they all are like that" excuse, that the samething they told me about my front bumper, which is bs cause they are not all like that.

So what did you find when you looked at other Cobalts? The hoods do move? If it was tight you would not be able to pull the hood release. I don't understand what you mean "the drivers side seat is loose only up and down.", but unless you are a fat a_ _ that wore the seat out it is probably the same as all Cobalts. They fixed your seat belt. Why didn't you tell your sales person the wheel was damaged when you took delivery? Once you drive off the lot, how would the dealer know what you have done to your car?
I have to here this stuff all the time. Why is the first reaction "i say you beat the s*it out of that mother f**ker untill he decided to cooperate " ?
Sorry about my rant, but the dealer gets blamed for a lot of non existant problems. I get tired of it. (yes, I work in a dealership). We can't fix what we can't see. Sometimes we are right and you have to accept that.

My hood isn't loose and I can still pull the release. He never said he didn't tell the salesman about the tire when he drove it off, you should probably confirm whether he did or not before you rant about that one. My seats are rock solid, and don't have any play in them unless I decide to move them. Anything other than that is not a normal seat like all the other Cobalts. But once again, you may want to give the poster time to log on and respond.

I have to hear stupid stuff from dealerships all the time. Why is their first reaction "that's not covered under warranty"? Customers get blamed for a lot of non existant causes of problems. Most of the time the customer is right, and dealerships should put aside their preconceived notions that the customer is stupid and accecpt the fact that we are right. I guess those days are gone because employees are starting to form opinions when it's not their place to. A dealerships job isn't to form an opinion about a particular repair job, it's their job to fix it.

I have to appologize to trashline. I am sorry for my comments, they are way out of line. Unfortunatly I have had a week full of no real problem complaints and I am a little crabby.
I would like to say that if your dealer dosn't have a body shop, your body fit complaints might not get fixed to your satisfaction. I love the service techs, but most know bupkis about body fit and repair just as us body techs know nothing about what the techs do.
Good luck with your repairs,
Dennis

No harm done.

I didnt see the gouge until I washed the car 2 weeks after I drove it off the lot. Could something have happend yes. Couple days after that I phoned the salesman and did not receive a return phone call. My life is busy I work full time and go to school part time. It takes planning to get the car to the dealership since I need a ride to and from.

I totally see the other side, which is why Im not being a total jerk to them about it. With my past experiance and the position of the mark Im 90% sure it was from a tire machine. It is half way around the wheel on 3 of the 5 spokes. Could I have ran over a branch or something yea who knows but I believe it was from a machine.

I spoke to the service manager, he told me all the cobalts hoods that are in the lot have loose hoods. same with the bottom portion of the seat. (which moves up and down when pushed on it). These things dont really bother me I just wanted them checked for safety issues is all. But I did go across the street and half the hoods moved and half didnt so they lied. I couldnt check the seats b/c I wasnt dealing with a salesman and I was late for class.

Back to the wheel, The service manager told me to speak to the sales manager since the wheel was not documented upon delivery. He was twice as bad as the service manager I got two words out of him. So i called GM, and at this point in time they cant repalce the wheel but want to give me free maintiance stuff. I told them to hold off and let me try another option. Next week Im going to try and contact the regonal (spell) sales manager, and show him the wheel.

the only thing that pissed me off was this cashier stuck up prissy brat . I was showing the tech adviser the seat and the girl says to my girlfriend "little **** about his car huh". If i was there I woudlve flipped but I didnt find out till I went home. And when I told the service manager he blew it off.

Im also gonna take it to another dealership and try to get the hood and seat fixed, which was recommended my the GM ladie.

Dont take that BS. My dealership told me my axle was broken and I toldthem they were full of ****. I asked for them to tighten my wheels to make sure that wasent the problem. I get home, noise still there. My ******* wheels were loose. I ****** flipped on them. They said it was impossible for my wheels to get loose. What a bunch of retards. They could have killed me.

update: I called GM's 1800 #. The women who opened my claim said they cant pay for the wheel. and want to give me some free maintiance. So I told her that I want to speak to the regional sales manager. Im waiting for a phoen call from him since his number isnt allowed to be given out.

I have an appointment for the two "all cobalts have that" problems to be fixed at another dealership.

They keep saying that I cant prove it happend prior to me purchasing it. realistically they are just being a punch of lazy bastards I think.

my engine has a light knock to it on a cold start or when it has been sitting for over 20 minutes... i don't like it.

Well the ladie from GM was fired, and they gave me a new person to talk to. Took two weeks to find this out after I had to call them twice. Aparently the ladie that was fired talked to the regional sales rep and said he cant do anything. So my next step is to go back talk to the service manager and schedule an appointment with the regional service manager. After that Im going to the BBB. From there I dotn think I can do anything afterwords.
