First Thing to Break, what to do? HELP (good story too!)

Was hanging out at a friends body shop. Some badass mustang (fastest car I have ever drove ) came rolling in. Was a brand new GT twin turbo setup. Even better, a **** was driving it. So the story starts off great, but everything great has to come to a end right? The **** was a friend of my uncles and said, "Hell if your a Soliday (my last name) you can drive my car. I was like After I drove it and came back. She told me she wants a cobalt SS/SC for her everyday driver. She thought my car was cute I talked about how the car feels and drives. She wanted to take a ride in it.

So, off we went. I took off like a bat out of hell and it felt very strong. She was impressed considering it was only a 4 banger. Made me feel good after seeing and driving what she had. Went to grab third gear and nothing. No gears! I thought I may have broke the transmission or something. Sure enough it was nothing major. I pulled over and turned the 4 ways on. I have a B&M short throw and one of those plastic clip things that snap into place on the cable broke. I was able to re-connect it and drive but no hard shifting. Just snaps out of place with race type shifting. Why the hell are those things so weak. Anyone else break these before. What do I do? I'm sure it won't be under warnity since I have the B&M short throw on it. Should I throw the stock knob back on it and pretend its stock ? Some help please...

I'd pop the stocker back in and take it to the dealer... just make sure to sabotage it a little more so it will barely shift at all... otherwise the dealer will whine abuse.

Can you buy stronger metal ones? This should be something a vendor makes. What a weak point on the car. Kind of pisses me off how there plastic BS.

I would like to know if there's something out there that is stronger as well.

Just pop the stocker back in and you should be gold. Also, ditch anything on the car that hints that you might have been racing it. ie stickers, gauges, engine torque damper, tire rubber spewed on the sides of the car, or whatever else you could see as a potential problem

Pics of ****?

I dunno man they made shitty short throws for the sentras as well. I think they just suck. Most people went with the tranny mounted type. Not sure if there is anything like that for the balt.

Maybe try the Hurst shifter? I have that on and it feels solid... just a thought.

It may be a short throw shifter but the knob is bigger than the average stock knob....

Guys, its not the knob or anything to do with the shifter or B&M parts. Its the plastic stock snap things. I don't know the name for it. They snap tight onto the metal cable. There is a small crack where the plastic gets small. I can see why this would be something that could break. I figured out how to fix it without dealing with the stealership. Going to snap it in place and use a very strong zip tie around it. It will not be able to come lose then.
