fuel cutoff issue and tachometer issue
fuel cutoff issue and tachometer issue
so my first issue ive been noticing for the first few days now and cant seem to figure it out. I can drive around town doing the speed limit, straight line from a dig running wot through the gears no problem, but everytime im coming around a bend on the on ramp to get on the highway in 3rd gear, as soon as i lay into it on the straight as im going on the highway, id say at around 4,000-5,000 rpms i get complete fuel cutoff while my foot is on the floor. Car stays on and does shut off, i just lose complete throttle response for about 2 seconds and it comes back. if i lose throttle response and go into 2nd or 4th it goes back to normal. i cant figure it out for the life of me. no check engine lights, no warning lights, nothing. Second issue im having is the dude i got the car from had pointed something out to me which is plain out obvious, but my tachometer reads BELOW 0 rpms. i can be WOT at about 5 or 6 grand and its just hitting 0 rpms. anyone else have this issue or know how to solve this issue??? all other gauges work perfectly fine except the damn tach lmao
i dont really care but if its an easy fix then hell with it ill fix it. any help with these issues is greatly appreciated. Thanks fam!

The two may be related. The pcm would cut fuel if it thinks engine speed is above red line and wouldn't throw a dtc for that. You may have a problem with crank position sensor, it is used for tach display as well. Its odd it only does it while turning, so I would check the connector, wire shielding and harness routing first.
It's between the oil filter housing and starter, IIRC the starter has to come off to access fully. If you are lucky you might be able to wiggle the harness with the car running and duplicate it. Its a two wire connector 1 wire should be yellow and the other purple.
Just saying they could be related. Not from personal experience with these cars. Just because the crank position sensor would be a common input for your particular issues that would be a fairly easy place to start. Now that I think about it a little though, the rev limiter shuts fuel off in these cars instead of bouncing rpm.
