This CAI has about 40,000 miles on it. I pulled the trans and so got to look at my sweet intake that I bought...

Yeah, that's rust. The Filter itself, rusted. Not to mention all the spots where you could tell that the intake had been rubbing. Sooooo, you might wanna check your's, just to be sure.

Needless to say, I just did the Air Box mod on my stocker.

Just bought an Injen to replace my Fujita...got a good deal, or I'd be going back to stock and modding the airbox.

if you are in an area that see's a lot of rain, then yes, the strap that holds the filter on is going to rust no matter what brand it is. But if you are talking bout the wire mesh around the filter, i already new that and bought a K&N cone dry flow filter for it the day i got the fujita. I had also put one of those water shield things that let air flow but blocks water. I think its called a hydra shield. To keep my strap from rusing i just wraped electrical tape around it and so far no problems.

I headed that problem off at the pass, I knew I was taking in water so the ex and I went around that whole compartment and taped off anyplace that could potentially bring in water. Mine has a little bit of surface rust but nothing like that.

And, pray tell, whyyyyyyyyyy weren't you cleaning this filter once or twice a year like you're supposed to? (Just giving you a hard time.)

I bet your fender is installed incorrectly like mine was and it's letting in even more water.

Yeah... I had every crack in the wheelwell taped off. It obviously wasn't enough. I'm betting the water came in from underneath the Headlight... since we have such awesome alignment with our bumpers.

AEM Dryflow & Injen Hydroshield. Problem solved and 40$ for another filter isn't bad, especially after 40,000 miles.

I have the Fujita and found the same type of thing to a lesser extent after about 15000 miles, so I replaced the filter and put a HydroSheild on.

The water comes through the hole above the fog light,
Oiled filter should not pose a problem.

I think that's his concern - the Fujita IS an oiled filter.
