gas cap

of all of the stupid stuff to break, never heard of t his one on any car. My gas cap is broken. By "broken" I mean the 2 halves no longer function as one. The white piece that actually seals off the filler neck has come loose from the black handle. The result is the black part spins freely and will not engage/disengage the white part. I have to fight to get the danged cap off to fill the car up. Then I can't get the stupid thing to go back on. It's still off right now. Car is not a daily driver and dealer is 15 mins away, so not worried about driving around forever like that, but it's still annoying as hell. I am not a complete moron I know how a gas cap is supposed to work and this one ain't doin' it.

Car is under warranty so it'll be fixed. Anyone else ever even heard of this happening?

"you were in too much of a hurry to put gas in it." LOL
****, I only drive the car once or twice a week. I hardly ever put gas in it. Gas cap is more neglected than abused, LOL

I don't understand why the stupid thing is made of more than one piece of plastic anyway.

Its made up of 2 seperate pieces because it has to be vented and the 2 part construction allows for that.

Yeh dont go to the dealer for a stupid gas cap.. just walk into any parts store, tell 'em the car, and you will be out 15 bucks. quick, simple service.

If you let it keep malfunctioning, it may throw a CEL for an evap code.
