Gas Gauge problems ?

Anyone having problems with the gas gauge?

Mine wont go above the 3/4 line. I'll fill the tank when the gauge reads 1/4 and from there pump in 8.5-9 gallons(when the pump shuts off) and the gauge will say that the tank is 3/4 full.

As soon as mine hits a quarter of a tank it goes straight to empty. It only has 200 miles on it, so I have only put one tank of gas in it. I am waiting to see what happens on fill up #2. If this tank does the same I am going to take it to the dealer to see what the hell is up with that.

I fill mine up when I hear the low fuel beep

My last fill cost me 40 dollars at 98/litre

how many litres does the tank have? I put in just over 40 litres to fill it back up, so whatever the fuel tank size is minus the 40 litres is what the tank still has when on 'empty'

I am getting around 9.2L/100l km of fuel efficiency from the reading.

There were similar issues with the early '05's, here's a post I pulled from this thread:

Took my Cobalt to the dealer today. Arrived about 7:30 - left 9:30. They verified the "concern". Reprogrammed PCM per bulletin #05-08-49-002A. Everything is great now. Tank reads full. We'll see what happens when it gets closer to empty.
If your car is an '05, though, I would certainly hope this had already been corrected by now.

my car is a '06 with about 600 miles on it. I wont worry about taking it to the dealer just yet. I'll wait until the first oil change or more problems arise. Then I wont have to make so many trips there and lose my car more then I have to.

Im not sure how big the tank is. But, I'ld say its about a 12 gallon(45 liters) tank
