Gas Mileage / O2 sensor

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2005 Cobalt SS. I am afraid that this car may turn out to be a nightmare. It failed the inspection because the O2 sensors were burned out so I replaced both of them (the mechanic did) with bosch ones which I was told were very good. They are burned out again. Additionally, it looks like everytime I drive the car the gas economy is going down. It started at 24.7 and is down to 20.8. Any ideas what the possible causes could be? Thanks for any assistance

Is that calculated or from dic? If you do lots of city driving 20 could be correct.

I am including a link to the US Department of Energy page - they have some tips on there on how to improve fuel economy. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
