GM at it's finest!

Had my trans 2nd gear replaced again, heard a hissing noise like a leaking garden hose, along with a roaring noise from the diff, tech didn't seal the end plate and it leaked most of the trans fluid out, took it back to them, had it resealed, few miles later noise got worse and then bam!, trans completely locked up. So, I put a new Exedy Stg 1 clutch n throw out bearing, AC Delco clutch master cylinder and found a nice used F23 trans off ebay. Their GM rep listens to the lying dealer about it all, case is getting back open soon as I call them with proof of the old locked up trans in my driveway.

Now I'm dealing with losing clutch pedal while driving at normal operating speeds, ( I've bled the crap out of it!) stop at a light or sign and wont go back into gear except for maybe 3rd on occasions and 5th if I'm lucky. I didnt know better while swaping trans to switch out the sensors and also, I didn't have the torx socket, at the time, to take the bolt loose for the bracket for the cables, so I was turning the plastic nuts beneath the bracket, could this be my issue, trans shifts perfectly with engine off! Thanks in advance guys, really need to figure this out asap.

lees07g5,

What is your case number? I'm happy to check into what's been done already if you wanted to send that my way (or the last 8 digits of your VIN, both work).

Best,
Sarah

Your clutch isn't bled out yet.

Since the trans garage-shifts just fine, that rules out linkage and trans internals. You're down to air in the clutch.

Try doing a gravity bleed from the elbow just above the clutch housing on the trans, then pulling vacuum on the brake master cylinder to move any remaining air from the slave cylinder to the line. Then do another gravity bleed to get that out. Repeat as necessary.

I've tried gravity bleeding with no luck, still does it, think a hand vacuum pump will do the trick?

That's B S what they are doing to you, if they fucked up which it sounds like they did then they should fix it until they get it right.

That's how I'm feeling and told them the same, we weren't seeing eye to eye on the situation. They wanted to charge 4 hrs to take the trans back out to diagnose their screw up, inspect to see what they did wrong, (when I know darn well they were gonna say they did nothing wrong to it), then charge me another 4 hrs to install if it wasn't their mistake on it locking up! So, I vouched to buy my own trans, GM rep said it's standard procedure for the dealer to charge first so their not losing out I assume.

How do I pull vacuum from the brake master cylinder?

Did you bench bleed the new master cylinder before installing it?

Yea, Gm is willing to refund me for the new trans, but since their stuck on their standard procedure, the stealership has to give them a written documentation that they jacked the old trans up!

still screwed up? Did the procedure to adjust cables sent from Powell Racing, definitely getting air into system somehow with all new parts besides the clutch line itself, clutch disengagement and engagement is whacked!

so GM rep says I have to put the locked up trans back in the car before the dealer will look into how they locked the trans up, wtf, not worth the hassle, time and my labor to swap trans again all for $240, which is what I paid for the new trans.

Sorry for being so late to get back on the thread - sometimes the tool we use doesn't catch everything. I'm also sorry that we were unable to work out a satisfactory resolution with you on this matter. Please keep in touch should you need anything (private message is probably best).

messaged the customer service lady, problem ended up being either the new exedy clutch or the TOB was faulty, got my money refunded back for the clutch kit but ended up having another local gm dealer put in a stock clutch n TOB, so $1400 later its still fudged up due to the clutch not disengaging properly it made 3rd gear grind now. So, I'm back to where I started from the beginning, exept 3rd gear grinds instead of 2nd
