TSBs ARE NOT RECALLS
There is merely a TSB issued for the problem
If you have a car that is demostrating the problem the TSB indicated represents the potential fix- that is all. If you are NOT still under the terms of your warranty it will not be covered.

They WILL NOT be sending out a recall notice- THIS IS NOT A RECALL, just a TSB outlining some new parts that should fix this up, providing your car has the following concern " the fabric on the door trim is pulling away from the pull cup"

Whoa! Relax man, I'm only spreading the good word of a GM Dealership. I am uncertain if it really is a recall I am just going off there information they told me with the word "Recall" in it. Recall can mean so many things.

They said they were going to inform all there customers of this issue. In essence, perhaps they are doing there own version of a "Recall". I just relayed the information to others to get this problem fixed.

Dude, so how did you get yours fixed? Both the dealership and the website say these parts don't exist?

They should? I got those are right off the service write up they gave me.

P.S Any dealership should be able to look this up. Unsure why yours is giving hell?

Yeah they're very uncooperative. I'll bust them up a little bit again today for it.

I had the SS in for service today (intermediate shaft issue, brakes 2ND TIME, and failing cruise) so I pointed out the trim cups to the service advisor.

The new parts are on order... no guff given to me... no questions asked.

Did I mention that I'm really beginning to like this dealership?

I'd say keep a watch on the trim pieces.... give it a few months... you'll see.

Wow, that sucks big time. Seems like they didn't really think it through when they made it. That kind of bothers me.

I've never had a problem with the driver side, the passenger side is the one to look out for. It's nothing major.

Sneaky thanks for the great info on this. I took my SS in to get some e-brake problems sorted out and showed them the part numbers for the trim cup and rings and they are fixing that as well. Those trim cups were looking pretty nasty, how are your new ones holding up?

Yeah, I think I'm just gonna get that taken care of when my cars in for it's next oil change instead of waiting til the problem occurs. This way I'll be on the safe side and I'll save that trip to the dealer down the road.

I was in on Tuesday for this TSB. It's always the passenger door first. The TSB gives the specific part numbers of the trim cups that have to be replaced. However, those numbers listed in the TSB have since been updated, which is why you are probably finding that they don't exist.

If you are having the repair done by a GM Goodwrench shop, their parts desk will automatically know when they enter an obsolete part number what the updated number is, and hence will still, without any problem, be able to order it. If your shop keeps trying to tell you that they don't know what you are talking about, go somewhere else.

Don't overthink this. Just like everyone else, bring in the car, tell the service advisor your fabric is separating from the door trim cup, and "yeah, I hear there is a technical service bulletin out for this issue". Then shut up. Let the shop do their job. The advisor can not tell the tech what to do. All they can do is write up the complaint. The tech then investigates, finds the TSB, orders the part, then reports back to the advisor. The customer and the tech are not supposed to ever talk to each other directly. The advisor will tell you your part has been ordered and we will contact you for a follow up appointment. That's all there is to it.

My most recent issue was the handle won't go back in the slot from which I pulled it out of and kept the door ajared.. drove to the dealership holding my door closed and driving a stick at the same time doing 50mph... it's getting rediclious.. I couldn't get it to go back in for the life of me.. played with it for well over an hour.
I also have an issue with my driver-side door. The handle doesn't stick though. Instead, when I unlock the doors, even though the knob for the lock is up, the door doesnt actually unlock. I had the dealer look at it and they said that there is some little metal bar in the latch that the lock hooks to (something like that anyways) and that it was bent. So they ordered me a whole new latch assembly.

Update:

I'm not having issues with the trim cup anymore but my new issue is they didn't replace the insert for the passenger side. looks like they repainted them, it's still flaking... Going to have to have them fix that. My door handles are still sticking.
