Going in for service, many things

Sat. Ill be bringing in the Balt to get some things checked out

1. Cold Start rattle/tap sounds comming from bottom of the engine (possible timing chain tensioner?)

2.Driver window rattles when down, not when rolled up all the way

3. Going into reverse will sometimes make a grinding noise..

4. A/C dosnt get cold, just cool on warm days (in the 80's) n the fan makes noise on low speeds

5. Clunk sounds when turning and going over a bump

7. Rotors warping... Im not going to buy the BS some get. My dad had a 03 Camaro which had rotor problems after 15,000 and they tried the same typical crap with him... He got new rotors after 4x....

ANY help or advice is appreciated as to what these problems might be, as I know they are all quite common. The car has been to the dealer one time for service but im not sure what for, if I provide VIN can some one look up what it went in for?

Ok so we've had issues in the past, thats the past as far as I'm concerned. Truce?

Lemme see if I can maybe help you.

1. Where is the sound coming from? If its the pass side of the car you may be right.

2. Crappy ass GM window clip on the rear of the glass that holds it in the track would be my guess. Its a .25 fix.

3. Do you have a short throw shifter?

4. Probly a leak somewhere. Be ready to bring it back in a couple weeks for the re-check.

5. In the front? Strut mount.

6. Uhhhh..... you skipped 6

7. Press them for them by telling them you know of service bullitins related to this problem and according to the bullitins you can opt for the GMPP drilled rotors IF and I do mean IF I remember correctly

Does any of this help you?

HAHAHAHAHA

Thats classic man!! hahaha

Welp seems like some of us have a "list" I also got a list of TSB's to give them which seem to address these issues... I'm just hoping I dont get a dick dealership... and for the record i just wana say My 2 new Fords had 1 issue in 60,000 miles.. given it was a truck, and not a sports vehicle where parts wear out quicker... Im in the "last chevy" mode fo sho. But lets hope the dealership can change my mind, and take care of this.

Another posibilty for #5 is your exhaust hitting the sway bar in the front. My car is in for sevice for that right now. I have the GMPP exhaust, and this problem started when the dealer installed it. I am waiting for them to get this fixed so I can install my new DP and megan exhaust. I know I could just switch out my new exhaust an probably fix the problem, but I want the dealer to fix it first incase it is because maybe my tranny mounts are bad or somthing. IDK, but it was just an idea and good luck.

Ok YOU brought up the "stoner move" NOT ME! Juuuuust wanted to make that clear to everyone.

Ok since it IS the passenger side then yes it could be the chain, either one of them.

No short throw then I HOPE your linkage just somehow came loose, if not its either clutch or trans time. sorry to be the bearer of bad news bro.

BTW + rep given for water under the bridge.

alrighty,

Dealer replacing intermediate shaft,
Fixed Window rattle
Fixing A/C

Brakes they wont even look at unless i pay 50.00. THey said the brakes are only covered for about 12,000...I told them to put it in writing, which im waiting for.

Now the tapping from under the engine, they say its the piston skirts (which was common for silverados, which there is a class action law suit on) now do these pistons have these problems like the silverados? Or is this a general assumption and the guys dont want to touch the engine?

any help mucho appreciano

Hey when you guys were talking about warped rotors, were you referring to having radial lines on them? I had this problem and they said it was due to too much high speed braking, which I couldn't totally believe but, I had to pay to have them grind it smooth...

Guys I need some serious advice!
I have been having issues with my '06 LS. I have taken it to TWO different shops to get numerous things fixed and they say that they fixed them but its still doing it.

1. Clunking in rear when going over bumps.
(First they told me it was exhaust hangers then they put in new bushings in suspension) IT"S STILL DOING IT!!!

2. Starting really hard and not wanting to stay on.
(They told me my Computer box was just floating around) STILL DOING IT!!!

3. Clunking in front when going over bumps.
(Told me they couldn't make it do it when they test drove it) STILL CLUNKING!!!

4. And now its backfiring when I start every time! WTF!!!

Can someone PLEASE help me I'm so desperate!

Thanks!!!
~Renee

i have the same problem with the grinding in reverse and 1st, but it only does it when i dont wait a couple seconds to put it in the gear after pushing in the clutch. so is my intermediate shaft toast?

also my clutch doesnt wanna grab 3rd gear most of the time. figuring thats from me beating on it constantly. however why only 3rd? wouldnt it make sense to slip in the higher torque gears? it launches hard and as long as i dont shift into 2nd while spinning, it grabs hard.

My dealership is sick of seeing me. they always brush me off when i take it in for problems like noises and stuff.

Intermediate shaft is basically the steering column.. when going over speed bumps slowly and turning it will make a clunk sound..

Go to another dealer man, when I told them I want the reason why they couldnt look at the rotors in writing , they treated me much different.

I dunno whats up with your clutch man, go to another dealer

zzzzzz Clunking was fixed with the steering colum (intermediate shaft) work done under warranty.

Bika by reverse grinding noise, I couldnt get to replicate (dammit) and since I brought it in, its only happened once... Seems to be working fine otherwise though.
