Grinding noise under car

Since Saturday I've been getting a grinding noise when decelerating and when taking off from a stop in first, sometimes feels like I'm dragging something under the car. I can feel it through the entire car especially by the shift knob. I took a look under the car and saw some green fluid on the right side of the transmission. Anyone have an idea what this is?

Only green fluid I know of in our cars is washer fluid if you put in green. I use orange. (Rain X)

Normally Id say green is coolant, but we use DexCool wich is reddish. Some people useother coolants don't know what color those are.

You could try to check your transmition lubricant level.
DO NOT let the guys at Autozone tell you what transmition fluid to use.
I have the 2.0 LSJ 2006 Manual, and they tried telling me I needed Automatic Transmition Fluid.
I had to show them in the owners manual where it said differently.

Thats the thing! I changed my transmission fluid myself and I know it sure as hell wasn't green and neither is the coolant. Could it have anything to do with the shaft?

Shot in the dark but quite often AC systems use green dye. Maybe your AC compressor is dying?

Why would AC fluid cause my car to shudder off the line and make grinding noises when decelerating in gear though? Will go take another look under the car and see what I can find...

the grinding noise your explaining reminds me alot of what my car is doing. i have a 2006 cobalt ss supercharged and i am pretty i have the exact same noise going on. i have no idea what it is but im pretty sure it isnt caused by a leak. my car has no leaks. anyways. if anyone can figure out what is causing this noise please let us kno. its been buggin the **** out of me since i got the car. maybe something with the exhaust. idk,

I think you have an a/c leak along with an exhaust hitting heat shield on acceleration (or something along those lines). let me guess, only sometimes does it make a noise...

if you are on a decel the car will make a grindig soud but not a bad grinding sound its the gears in the tranny off the input shaft rotating thats fine if it does it while accelerating then itll prob be a bad bearing of some sort either from the intermediate shft for the cv axel, a hub bearng a bad t.b ect

Yeah I think am going to drop it at the stealership this week. ^^I think it's something along those lines because it seems to be coming through the transmission. I just spent 2 hours tuning everything up the other day dammit! ah well lol

Thanks! thats what it looked like when I was under the car, there was no fluid on anything above the axle on the transmission only by it. Do you know if powertrain would cover that under warranty?

Checked the website and it looks like it's covered. Made an appointment for the stealership tomorrow, pretty sure the cv joint is gone by now. If they want to charge me for it i'll just pick my car up and buy a set from ZZP for cheaper and install it myself as it doesn't look that difficult.
