Gutting an A/C compressor.

Does anybody know how to get the clutch pulley off of the compressor? What puller do I need if I need one? Can I borrow yours in exchange for a good clutch and compressor parts. I'm gutting a perfectly good compressor for weight reduction in a buggy but the clutch pulley covers the housing bolts. Has anybody done this? And yes the 5 lbs weight saving behind my rear tire will help.

Cant answer your pulley removal question but you should be able to rent for free any puller from an auto parts store with a small deposit. Why now make your own pulley assembly bracket and sell the compressor for say $150ish.

FYI I was able to remove the clutch assembly minus the pulley very easily a few years ago as the electronics/magnet went bad. Dont remember any details as it was only one time and years ago.

It came right off with a torks bit and small regular puller. I posted it here if you want detail to the whole job: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...6/#post7138419
