Heater?

Hey, has anyone noticed a strange sound coming from the heater?
Today was the coldest morning so far (about 12 degrees Farenheit) when i woke up. I started my car, turned the heat on, and heard a slight whining/clunking sound... Not sure if there is anything to worry about, since it went away about 20 seconds later.
Hopefully it was just because of the extreme cold, and maybe it is just a normal thing since it is the first time i have really cranked up the heat.

Thanks.

That is your blower motor making that noise, it clunks around until it warms up. So far, myself and a few other up here in Canada have had this problem. If you put the blower on the highest speed, it will go away much faster. My dealer said they would install a new blower motor for me, but its not a priority right now.

Yeah, I get the same sound here. It is fine when it warms up though. I'm sure it would be a waste to have the dealer fix it.

same exact thing with mine... If i have it on 1 it's very low, 2 is very loud, and 3 and 4 it is gone.
I just wanted to make sure that my baby was not going to blow up.

Thanks for your help.

EVERY Chevrolet I have ever had from an 81 Citation X-11 to my 05 Cobalt has had a noisy ass heater fan in the cold... Every one!!! I just live it. As long as it blows air, i could give a ****... that's what the volume knob on the stereo is for.

It has gotten real cold here in the last few months, and I have noticed mine making a kind of whinning noise, and that is what I figured, once it warms up a little it goes away!

I have the same problem on mine... When it is really could outside I notice the noise much more than any other time... The dealer said that they would replace the blower motor for me... but there is really nothing wrong with it... It just gets annoying sometimes along with my creeking glovebox!

Too funny. I wouldn't call the heater motor being a bit noisy when its cold out a problem. Too damn many picky people. lol

Mine as well. I've had the motor replaced, came back, some other piece replaced, still came back, now have to take it back for squeaky shocks and the blower motor as well.
