Help!!!!!!
Ok so im just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with cobalt. So i was driving to houston about six hours from where i live. Around half way there my cars tranny just started slipping it just wouldnt accelerate. Check engine light turned on. I turned it off disconnected battery let it cool down and the car still wouldnt move just rev.disconnected shift kit (b&m) followed same process but after that it would accelerate then slip. In order to move car had to turn it off on neutral while moving turn on put on drive quick and floor it. When i reach around 40 it started redlining. After a while i was able to pick it to 70 by turning it off and then on then just floor it. Enging code p1818 i need to know should i go with a new transmission or is it fixable???? Sorry for long story

I'm seeing some suggestions already as to what might need to be done with the vehicle; if you were to work with a dealership on this, please be sure to let me know! I understand, however, that that isn't always an option.

Your ATF looked like mud so you added more in?
The problem with this car is the owner.
NO this does NOT give you the excuse to get it tuned.
In all seriousness, I would take that car to the GM dealership. They will provide you with the best customer service for someone with your skil set in vehicle maintenance.

it sounds like you are low or out of tranny fluid. and from the sounds of your post you have been very rough with your tranny (the shift kit and the switching on and off and going through gears at 40-70 mph). Id say first check your ATF, fill it, and see if that does anything for you.....although it might just put off getting a new one for awhile.
