HI when I'm shifting into second I need to hold my shifter into place then let the clutch out for it to engage 4th gear and reverse is having the same problem but not as bad as 2nd gear. It feels to sloppy. It doesn't grind at all just feels like is doesn't want to hold it in position while holding the clutch in it.. could it be shifter cable or the shifter it's self

I took fuse box off aND the shift arm on top of the tranny when in gear had a lot of play

 

That's something to seriously look into not sure what the cause of that would be. Bump for someone else that can maybe shine some light on this problem.
