Angry Help! Can't get new fuel filter on fuel line

I went to change my fuel filter today, got the replacement part from autozone, picked up the quick disconnect tool, and followed the how-to on this site, and everything went smoothly until I went to put the new filter on. I push the filter on the fuel line as far as I can get it, but then I am able to pull it right off. I know that cant be right since the old one needed a quick disconnect tool to take it off.
I have looked at both filters and they are identical, the tabs on the new one arent bent or anything, I just cant get it on. I've tried everything I can think of, Ive tried using the quick disconnect tool to push the new line in, Ive tried just pushing it on, and nothing works. Is there a certain way you have to connect it?

EDIT:
I was able to put the old filter back on, and it went on with no problems. Does anyone know why the new one wouldnt fit despite it being identical? It was the part the autozone website told me I needed for a 2006 ls. The part number is FF4002 and it is made by Luber Finer.

You need to cross reference it to the GM/AC Delco part #. The SS/SC has a certain filter that is different than regular cobalt filter and has a different part number.
