HELP: Taillights and dash lights out

Ok, so my tailights no longer light up when i turn my lights on, but my brake lights signals and reverse lights aswell as my headlights work fine. Although the halos on my headlights seem to be out but im not sure thats connected. My radio works fine and the DIC and lights for my AC defrost, airbag and air circulate buttons light up aswell as my warning lights. but the rest of my dash is out. ive tried the dimmer and replaced the "clster" fuse. Did i replace the wrong fuse or is it not fuse related. My dome light also works fine.

Anyone know which fuse it is?

12 veiws no reply....
i just tryed replacing the "prk lmps" or parking lamps fuse... no luck.

Are you talking at night or during the daytime

Could be the daylight running light sensor on the dash is faulty,

You could also try your switch for the lights in a different position.

it is most likely the fuse labeled 'running lights'

In regard to Cobalt (and many other GM models) instrument panel lighting, on rainy, foggy, and/or overcast days, the exterior lights will come on, but not the instrument lights. The problem is the BCM, even though it is re-programmable, it can not be re-programmed to cure the problem. GM consider this condition to be "normal", and refuses warranty service (Service Bulletin Document ID# 1530511). Search NHTSA/TSB #'s,060849016,3393A,1001706,10017222,10020935, for more models & info.

Well I just fixed my problem. Mine was just the 15 amp fuse that burnt. Leave it to Gm to run all your dash, ac, parking lights, and what ever else they have on this one fuse. This could end up being a disaster for someone if the fuse goes out in the middle of the night, your cars dash just goes black. You cant even see how fast you are going, or see how much fuel you have left, **** people driving behind you cant see your taillights unless you step on the breaks. Well any way if this happen to yall its a quick and easy fix. The fuse is located in the engine compartment in the fuse box that has the red cap with the battery terminal post. Just open that and look on the cover for the park lamp 15 amp fuse. Replace that and you should be good to go.

OMG, you just saved me hundreds of dollars! The dealership quoted me $642 to replace the instrument cluster (even though the gages were still working). Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I had checked every rationally labeled fuse and had even ordered the circut board lamp replacement...

OK, so I am having the same problem with my 2006 cobalt ss. Found 15amp fuse under hood burnt out. Replaced it, worked fine as I checked it several times. Got up next morning and started car and fuse instantly burnt out. Replaced fuse at that time and burnt right out. Seems that during the day it will work with new fuse but early morning or night time burns it out. I know there is an ambient light sensor is it possible they go bad. don't want to just throw parts at it. Anyone ever have this problem.

First things first, check harnesses associated with that fuse. You could have an intermittent short to ground. Look over the wiring and make sure nothing is pinched or rubbing. Wrap harness in electrical tape, heat shrink material and or get some wire loom, for areas of the harness you may find problems at

So I am still having trouble with my 06 cobalt ss. Here is my problem, all lights work fine during the day. the headlights, running lights and dash lights. But when I go out to my car in the morning an start it, it blows 15 amp parking lamp fuse under hood. try to replace it right then an just keeps blowing. but after I get out of work I can replace fuse and all lights work. I am losing running lamps and dash lamps. Headlights work fine. I replaced ambient light sensor, and followed all wiring from each bulb to the bcm. no shorts there. I can not get fuse to blow any other time except in the morning. I even sprayed car down with the hose to see if it blows fuse when wet. I suspect the bcm but not positive. Any one have a clue, please help.

The problem I was having was due to a short in the **** Chinese wiring on eBay projectors (Wicking water to the connector and shorting the fuse over and over again). Electrical tape solved my problem but I ended up getting high quality aftermarket headlights to lay it to rest.

This was also disabling my rear brake and turn signals I only had function in the hazards.
