Angry Help Wrong Oil

I just got my car back from the dealer today from it being fixed from flood damage. I have to take it to the body shop monday beacuase the tow truck driver cracked my fender and body kit but anyways. I went straight to work and it sounded like they didnt tighten all of my bolts on my exhaust or headers. I called them told them i about it taking it in tommorow. I got off work walking to my car and you can see my exhaust hanging alot lower than it did before. I started the car i smelled gas. Now with the wrong oil help i was looking over the invoice they gave me and it said everything they did. So i was looking at the oil change they did the service guy said they had to change the oil twice. But on the invoice it said they used 10w30 i dont know if it was synthetic or not but their supposed to use 5w30 right. would this really mess up my engine or what will it do. Sorry about my rant. Please help

If they used conventional make them change it.

If they did use syn. I wouldn't worry to much about using 10w instead of 5w because you live in a warm climate.

not really, most conventional oils have so many additives they're more like syntetic blends, the thing about them is that it breaks down easier/faster, so it doesn't perform as good as full syntetic, especially on higher performance engines, you should be fine as long as you don't push the engine hard, and change it as soon as possible, (my brother put full syntetic in his rx-8 and the dealer told him that if he drove it too much it would gunk up his engine and possibly clog his cat, because full syn won't break down and burn like the conv kind, the crazy thing is that most rotary shops sell full syntetics like royal purple, etc.)

I was doing some looking around and came across this ( http://www.popularmechanics.com/auto...o/4232672.html )

It won't kill your engine to run conventional for a short time but you should certainly have them verify that they did put synth in it. If they didn't then the dealership should put synth in it for free since they are supposed to put Synth in it for the LSJ/LNF engines.

The #W isn't going to harm your car. It is mainly the cold flow properties. As long as the number matches your climate, you're fine. 10W is fine for Texas as you rarely see sub zero temps. The second number is the one you must watch out for. The car will not take kindly to an oil that isn't a #W-30.

Cobalt LS/LT/Sport/2.4LSS use conventional.

Cobalt SSsc and SStc use Synthetic.
