HID problem
HID problem
I have the HID kit from VisionBulbs, wired with the relay. Obviously, we have auto lights, and I never manually turn them on. Monday my headlights were on when I went to go to class. Got a jump, and they shut off. Last night, same thing after class, however, since it was dark I don't know if they would have turned off or not. Last night, later, I went out to go to the store, and noticed the snow in front of my car...the lights were flickering, driver, passenger, never at the same time, just constantly. Car was off. No power. Pulled the fuses for the lights, kept doing it. Pulled the fuse in line for the relay, it stopped. This morning, popped the fuse back in, went to the store to get a new relay (thought maybe that was the issue) and the lights were on on the way to the store (sunny as hell, not a cloud in the sky). Got home, flickering again after I turned the car off. I haven't tried the new relay yet, but I'm looking for opinions on what this could be. The relay is two weeks old, because my other one corroded and stopped working. I wrapped it up in electrical tape, but now, two weeks later, one prong was corroded again. So I think/hope it's the relay, but any other suggestions?
get rid of the relay and just wire it in off the lights...so they are only on when the car turns them on and u dont have to worry about the relay turning to sh*t, its basically option 2 of the installation for HID's, its what i did and havent had a problem yet
I had the same problem, wrap your relay in electrical tape and down to the wires an inch or so. It's getting full of water.
If you had posted this in the right section, I would've seen this sooner...

I have a hid relay running my 6,000k's and the only thing that bugs me is I lost my auto lights. Is this just because I have a relay? To turn my lights on i have to turn my parking lights on before i start the car, then once started I roll the stick forward to turn on the hids. Did I install them right?
Doesn't sound like they were installed correctly, you shouldn't loose any functionality at all. But like I said in the previous post, if your relay isn't insulated (or atleast have the wires point down so water doesnt get in like the instructions say), then your lights are going to do all sorts of weird things.
This is a problem, therefore I posted it in the problems section. i don't see the issue with that.
Anyways, I bought another new relay, put it in, everything is working again, and I wrapped it in tape...hopefully there's enough tape this time.
