HID question

Can the way HIDs are wired to a car...or how the projector headlights are wired...lead to a overload of the body control module and ecm and lead to burnt fuses...

could it happen down the road (especially if there isnt a harness) or would it be instantaneously as in when it was first wired up??

Please help

if your HIDs didnt use a relay, i supposed its possible.
HIDs only draw around 35w, which is less than most stock halogens.

but during the ignition phase....they draw a pretty big chunk of voltage (cant remember how much) but its the reason people have had "melted wires" in the past.

Relays, draw that power directly from your battery through a fused heavy gauge wire, and only recieve a SIGNAL from the flimsy stock wiring, thereby saving your small stock wiring from dealing with a large shot of power during ignition.

so your saying without a relay it is possible b/c during egnition it draws lots of energy? is it not strange that it would happen 2 months after installation?

I have no idea bud. I dont know exactly how it could go back far enough to affect your ecm etc.....if anything it would blow a headlight fuse, maybe melt headlight wires.

a HID kit can draw some pretty big voltage....but it would be very strange for it to affect anything other than its own wiring/fuse....
