Hood release not work, need help.

I go to refill my washer fluid, pull the hood release lever and.....nothing. Does anybody know how to open the hood manually?

is there any tension on the hood release at all, can you see if the cable is attached to the hood release?

The cable is attatched and there doesn't appear to be any tension. I tried pulling it while pushing down on the hood aswell.

then chances are the cable is either stretched or it broke somewhere down the line, what you can try is go underneath the vehicle look up, you'll be able to see the hood release latch as well as the cable attached to the latch. take a pair of pliers and pull on it, that should release the hood

I was able to get a hold of the cable through the grill and pull it but the hood wouldn't release.

you got to pull it towards the driver side. keep at it and it will eventually release.

Alright I have another go at it tomorow. I spent all day yesterday trying to get my endlinks off, so I'm a little short tempered right now. Let ya know how it goes.

did it make a sound when you pulled the lever at all? did you try pulling up on the hood decently hard to see if it was just stuck? If the cables broke it wont help but just some extra ideas.

I can hear a click when I pull the lever but there isn't any resistence when pulling it like there usually is. I did try pulling up the hood too. And with the endlinks after about 6 hours just sitting and staring at the bolts I just went ahead and took the angle grinder too 'em.

If i had a dollar for every time i had to open a hood by doing that on a car that came in, i'd be able to buy my 7 quarts of Mobile 1.

Sorry for the late update, I was finally able to get it open by pulling the cable from underneath the car. The latch mechanism was all rusty and sticking, so I cleaned it off and sprayed some wd-40 on it and it works for now. I have a feeling I'll need to replace in a few month though.
