How to remove the radio?

Well I called my dealership and setup an appointment to have my radio looked at for Monday. I want to pop the radio out and check the connections in the back to make sure its not something simple, as I would prefer not to get up super early to drop my car off. Anyone know exactly how to pop it out to see behind it?

YOu have to pull the trim off from around it, and before you can do that you have to remove the trim from above the glove box and the info panel buttons. then there are 4 screws ( 7mm i think ) that you have to take out and wala it will fall into your hands.

just wanted to add that those trim panels are a pain to pry off but ive yet to break any so dont be afraid to put some pressure on em. good luck, im not sure what issue youre having but, more than likely it wont be a connection problem. ive yet to see one, probably be reprogrammed or replaced.

I used a flat head screw driver and a small peice of wood to pry against so that i would not damage anything. It took me about 5 minutes to start and take the radio out, so its not that bad. What is your radio doing that you want to get it checked out for? Mine would loose the bass and treble setting every time i would change teh station or put on a cd. soon that will be resolved with what i am putting in its place though.

Which radio do you have? I remember seeing a TSB about the base radio not properly identifying with the BCM and basically thinking it's stolen and not functioning. The solution that was in that TSB was for them to swap it with the uplevel radio, which is a nice bonus.

Well before it stopped working completely. I had an issue with base/treb. I would set it, and almost out of pure randomness it would go back to defaults and stuff. I find myself setting it more and more often when I know I had it at a diff setting the day before etc.

Right now for me it wont turn on or light up. Its like its competley powerless. I wanted to get behind and see if a power cable came loose or soemthing.

Well I took my car in today to my (chevy) dealership. They called me like an hour ago saying that searched it up and down and could not find the problem. Said they have a ton of wires exposed and stuff O_o??? and want to keep it over night rather then put it all back together and tear it apart again in the morning. I gave them the OK with this, but am amazed they where not able to fix it. They say they need to call in a specialist to look at it tomorrow which is why they want to keep it over night. Thats kool with me cept if they dont fix it and have to order another thats another day I am inconvienced by all this. Kinda sux what I have to go through to get my radio fixed
