Keys are locked in the ignition and the dealership told me that the ignition recall expired. What kind of bill should I expect?

He said he would call and see if they would cover it... Guess that's what I get for not getting it done sooner.

Is the service rep still on the forum??? He said it'd be $105 to look at, I told him there's nothing to look at just do what the recall is for...

I didn't think they touched these unless they broke?

This should be covered.

thats stupid to have a recall expire... Its a major risk to the car and the owners safety, but if the owner doesnt get it fixed in x amount of time its no longer a risk?? lol

They try to cover a percentage of affected cars.

it's not a recall, it's a special policy, and they can expire. I checked GMVIS when I bought my G5 and it said the policy was still open and had no expiration.

^^^ This.

There was not a recall but they did extend "warranty" coverage on the ignition lock cylinders beyond the standard bumper to bumper coverage.
Not sure on the numbers but there is a limit on the mileage / time. I got a letter on it but didn't keep it because my car is well past the mileage - nothing like 25000 miles / year to run you out of warranty in a hurry

I lied, it's the fuel pump module special coverage that is covered forever:

Applicable Warranties Valid warranties are highlighted
Valid Description Start Date Effective Odometer End Date End Odometer
Special Coverage 12191 12/22/2006 72 MI Unlimited Unlimited

the ignition lock policy is 12089 and it is covered for 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000km)
