installed gms1 and k&n intake, result, cracked block wtf?

70k on my engine, i installed the gms1 kit with k&n intake, a week later its leaking coolant in the engine. i take it to the local dealership where i got the stage kit put on, they run some test and say they need to dissemble the engine. they do so checking everything. here im thinking its a head gasket no big deal considering the stage kit is supposed to be covered under warranty. they inform me that they "think" its a cracked block and that the stage kit voids my warranty. after fighting with the dealership for about a week i decide to call gm canada to back me up. the service rep has no idea what this stage kit is and has never heard of it. after schooling her on gm's own product her conclusion in the matter is my warranty is still void. i bitch and complain till she opens a "investigation" into the matter and says she will call the dealership. she does all this and still concludes that my warranty is void. i says, so your telling me a product that gm has made for a car gm has built voids my warranty even though you could get this stage kit as an option on the 2010 model? which then she gets all mad and tells me even if i installed a car alarm aftermarket it voids warranty. and i says another thing, you guys cant prove it had anything to do with the stage kit if you don't know a 100% whats going on with the engine? so i get passed on to her higher up which he flat out told me "new gm" does not cover their gm performance parts under warranty no more after they went bankrupt. bunch of bullshit. dealership offered to put new engine in for 9000 bucks lol told them to pack it up and ill push the bitch out. also worth noting, i took the k&n and re installed the stock intake so i wouldn't get hassled for that. so 6000 bucks later i got a new engine installed without that dealership who to this day im convinced ripped me off.

also worth noting, the dealership had never heard of the stage kit. i bought the stage kit from crateenginedepot.com and brought it in. it took these bums 4 and a half hours to put it in and tune it. i had this tune on the car for a little over a week ( installed the intake myself 2 days after the tune) .

Um... that sounds like everyone ripped you off. That was the whole point of the stage kit. The technical term is "LNF Turbo Upgrade Kit". That Old GM line was just BS, they are required to cover everything they warrantied. You should not have paid $6000 to have your engine replaced either, that was also a rip off. Idk what year your car is, but in 09 there was a problem with some LNFs having porus block issues do to poor castings. I'm guessing that is what your actual problem was. I'd say that the block on these LNFs is one of the last parts to go when people here are making big power, so the stage kit and an intake would not be responsible for that. I'd say some court action is in order, but it would be tough to prove now that you already had the engine replaced.

Her screen name is "GM Cust Serv" or something like that. Hopefully OP wrote down the names of the people he talked to and the dates. It would probably make his case easier for her to look up.

That's total garbage dude. Like someone said earlier, the whole point of GMS1 is to not void your warranty. You can get HP or Trifecta tuned for a lot cheaper than GMS1. They can't just put out their stage kit and say it upholds your warranty and then go back on their word.

Does the Better Business Bureau operate in Canada? If so you should file an online report. I had an issue with a dealer who wouldn't give me a refund one time and after filing the report with the BBB they were express mailing me a check the next day.

WTF?

your warranty is not void.
you should have gone to another dealership
I think it's crazy you paid 6000 to have a new engine put in...

Stage kit for LNF Turbo - Warranty Clarification

*If customer takes delivery of stage kit with new vehicle purchase, warranty on stage kit is equal to the new vehicle powertrain warranty.

*If customer takes delivery of stage kit after new vehicle purchase, warranty on stage kit = 12 months/12,000 miles or the remaining new vehicle warranty, whichever is longer.

*Installation of stage kit does NOT void new vehicle/powertrain warranty

Hey bro you need to follow through on this and apply any legal means necessary.

Hearing posts like yours really angers me. Props to you for keeping your calm thus far and not going off the wall.

This situation seems impossible/laughable as the Stage kit is 100% warrantiable black and white case closed end of discussion. Find the documentation and pursue this until you win. Then head back to the original dealership and humbly claim your victory. A victory dance would not be out of line.

Id be more than happy to talk to the service rep you talked to.
You don't mention what year car you have. Was your car still under warranty? Something tells me theres more to the story.

x100. I suspect the known weak block issues.

Dealerships are real bad and they try to rip you off. My fuel pimp cracked like the recall had said it happens and they Tell me i have to buy the new fuel pump for them to install because my car has been in am accident and had a rebuilt title. Then i told them how by law they still have to do safety recalls and they say it's not covered because my car is to new and has low miles.

My car is a 2009. I have talked to the guys at crate engine deput and you guys are the only ones that had my back through this, I'd like to thank you guys for your support if anyone needs anything go talk to those guys they look after their customers. But after fighting for a month with everyone about this I choose to just buy a used engine and put it in myself. Car runs great, has same mods on it with no problems. In all reality it was just this dealership out to make a buck and screwed me. I'm more dissapointed in the lack of support gm gave me.

with 70k on the car was it even under warrenty? they only thing i would suspect it it being under warrenty would be if it was the extended warrenty. mines an 09 with 24k..... needless to say its underwarrenty only because i have an extended warrenty...... otherwise nothings covered.

I'm not sure who you are and I'm not trying to start anything but you obviously do not know who you are talking to right here.

iv went threw a hassel with gm, long story short, they told me they've never voided a warranty, and the only way it can is if they can prove the mod u did caused that problem. and that doessnt void everything, just that claim.
