Installing New SPEC Stage 3+ Clutch & Flywheel use old TOB?
Hey Guys, Just like the thread states, I'm getting my stock clutch replaced with a SPEC Stage 3+ Clutch with Aluminium Flywheel. I also purchased a new clutch slave cylinder as well, Question is I've heard from ZZP that GM is having trouble with new TOB's and I've read several posts of guys having TOB failure from new LNF TOB's, I dont even think that ZZP is selling them right now cause of this issue, So should I just leave the old TOB in there? My car has 40,000 miles. I e-mailed ZZP about this issue and havent heard back yet so I wanted to get some opinions, Thanks!
Who really knows if these TOBs that are being sold right now are faulty.
A couple of cases, but it could be anything.
Really hard to judge. I would probably put a new one in there. I'd just get one from your local dealership.

I have not heard of any faulty LNF TOB, as an epidemic, and have not encountered any difficulty, and we install a lot of clutches. As a rule I replace the TOB with every clutch install along with new trans axle seals. I imagine zzp are not price competitive on the part compared to a vendor like CED and dont bother unless it is for in shop use, which is where we sit; we hold inventory for our own jobs, but the GMPP for S/C cars comes with a new TOB and beats everyone on quality/performance/price.
I did an engine change the other day and the TOB was recently replaced so I did not change the TOB, no issues.
I also installed a SPEC clutch in a Sky Redline the other day and SPEC were totally less than stellar with customer service. Other forums speak of similar customer service.
The SPEC had an OEM style Sachs clutch cover, so all you get is a fancy flywheel and a funky clutch disc, which if it is a puck style with no isolation springs will be a pita to drive and rattle like crap on decel. my .02c.
It helps I suppose that I plug the distribution block immediately when removing the line, and have no issues bleeding .

Hmmm, Weird....I bought the clutch new off of a fellow cobaltSS.net member so not sure about thier customer service, But I have heard good things about this particular clutch, It is NOT a Puck style cause I already know how they are as a DD, Its a Full Face Clutch. I guess I'll just go and get one then(Shrugs).
UPDATE: Just talked with Shane from ZZP and he told me that if my old TOB works then DO NOT Replace it, Cause they are indeed having issues with the LNF TOB's right now, Just a "Heads Up".
If you have a 2007 with a tob with a green bootie and good mileage on your car, and dont replace it, u are going to shed tears when you have to redo your install later...no doubt, mark this post.
I have stock from CED of the LNF tob, received three weeks ago, installed two weeks ago, works fine. Must be good karma here.
