invisible "CEL" problems
invisible "CEL" problems
So I changed my 02 sensors and my Evap soloniod, then reset with OBD II. drove it for about 150 miles and no problems. then the light comes on and throwes a P0443 code (Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit) and the light stays on for about 3 min and then goes off again. I rescan with the OBD II and the code is still there but the light is off. I took it to get it inspected and failed because it was throwing this code. ive erased it a couple of times and its the same story. ive cleaned the lines going too and from the soloniod and even replaced the soloniod itself. occasionally I get the code P0054 (HO2S Heater Resistance (Bank 1, Sensor 2). any help so i can pass the state inspection? 60,000 miles on it so there is no warranty

well my problem was 20mpg average no mods with a check gas cap light randomly turing on and off. id had a CAT, fuel injectors, o2's, induction clean, evap test no leaks ever found, had compression test, had replaced the gas cap, fuel filter, id say about 1k spent to try to fix it and all it did was get worse.
not say this is your issue ive been seeing alot of base models with simular problems as mine. now they got a recall out for them.

well the second code for the o2 sensor usually is coupled with a catalytic efficiency sensor as that sensor is what monitors the operational status of the catalytic convertor.
thats all i got right now considering i've been drinking tonight.

Do you hear the knocking in the trunk still like you should be every once and a while when the evap purges ?
Are you sure that is why your failing, the code is in history and the problem of you erasing this code is you delete your drive cycles and that is why you fail I would think ,alot of guys fall into this trap.
The car wont pass without completed drive cycles and some take quite awhile to complete.
Can some one correct me if Im wrong !!

when you clear the codes it resets the system checks as if there was nothing wrong to begin with, then it will run its checks and if it fails then it will pop the code up until its next check, usually when the code is in history its not a vital code that would prevent the vehicle from running sorta thing.
also check your gas cap to make sure it is seated properly, that will cause an evap code as well.
