I've had enough.
and i've got 52,000km on mine. had to replace the front brakes and as i said put ceramics in it, and haven't had an ounce of problems with them. my clutch is still going strong as well.
just get the drilled and slotted rotors off ebay for the LS thats what i did when i had the LS and never had a prob since i gotten them...the rear shoes and drums do wear pretty fast but its whatever lol...hell i paid like 22K for my SS/Tc and have the occasional squeak on the inside and the shitty GM brakes but u just gotta live with it lol
[QUOTE=xxxxsh4d0wxxxx;3820273]Let me start off by saying, this car is a definite perfect example of a poorly made, production line, piece of ****. I love the car to death, but let's be truthful here.
I am just under 12,000 miles, and problems are piling high. I have not even had the car for a year yet, and these are the problems..
• Brakes squeak when you come to a stop then let off the brake pedal.
• Vibration in steering wheel when braking, obviously warped rotors.
• Paint is wearing off under the driver-side door, from the door not being aligned properly whilst being assembled.
• Steering makes a "clunk" when the car is parked, and the steering wheel is turned.
• A plethora of interior rattles.
• Passenger window rolls down at half the speed of my driver-side window.
Also:
Driver side window clicks on glass while rolling window upan down.
Somewhere in the trunk or in some place between the bumper and bumper shield has a rattle of metal pieces loose or something when stereo is loud with the stock 10 inch woofer.
Clutch slips....the main reason I DO NOT TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!
Shakes when in idle.
2005 SS/SC just hit 54,000 miles, 4yrs. on 07/02/09...It'll be her birthday. But al this happens due to wear and tear of daily use.
The ones in red..I've taken to dealer and they say its normal ...BULLSHIT!!

Yes they will repaint if it was caused by a factory defect. I had my hood repainted within a month of buying the car brand new because I pointed out discoloration. Unfortunately for the dealership driving the car back from the paint shop a rock hit the hood and scratched it so they repainted it again for free.
Haha.

This is the inherent problem with Cobalts.
They are a great car, but they just seem to fall apart very quickly.
My '05 LS was BEAT after 4 years, it had the same problems that 10+ year old cars had.

My drivers door rubbed the fender the first day when I inspected it. After I picked up the keys I took her over to the bodyshop. They took care of that right away, lubed the door seals with a silicone based sealer and recommed a stick-on protective film I can buy at any body and paint supplier. He wanted to give me a piece but had none in stock.
My point is... I did my homework and search a lot of sites (mostly cobaltss.net) and read all the reviews online and knew exactly what I was getting into. This is an economy car with a great drivetrain nothing more.
Like me and most on this site you should have done the same kind of research. I hope you can find the right dealer dealer service that will make you happy. I've owned 6 performance cars (different makes), 2 brand new and the rest all less than a year old. I know it is to early for me but so far I got what I paid for. Very happy!

In my experience as a tech (before I became a papermaker), warped rotors are almost (not entirely, but you're going against the odds here, friend) always caused by the driver. (again, there are exceptions... the GM N-body comes to mind as does the older W-body with their rear slider issues). Come to think of it, the only thing that I ever had happen with the braking system in my 07 SS was during a snowstorm... the ABS computer had a meltdown because the front wheels were spinning hard (like 45mph indicated) and the rear wheels were actually at 20mph... the ABS kicked off and displayed the warning light and BRAKE warning light... I cycled the ignition when i got to the top of the hill and all was well. Never did it again.
I wish you luck with your car and wish you had had the experience I did with my 05 base and am having with my 07 SS/SC.
i disagree with that wholeheartedly, especially after the pile of miles I put on a car up here in the middle of nowhere.

That sucks
Seems every Chevy ever built has the door problem. You have to slam them to shut them. Im haveing the same problem with the door. It's chevy. Just tighten the door screws down yourself or maybe apply some lock-tite. As far as every thing else goes I havent had all those other problems. I hope you can squared away, cause the Cobalt really is a great car, from economical sedan to the turbocharged racer. Also keep in mind that about 1% of every car built could be a lemon. Make sure yours isnt before you spend a bunch of money. Chevy might not know its a lemon either. My uncle got a c 1500 in the mid nineties that was a lemon. Once it was determined Chevy did fix the problem. The end result was a new truck with a free extended warranty and his payoff on this new truck was the next years blue book value. In Texas the lemon laws are strict, so I guess thats why they hooked him up so good. He still has that truck with over 300,000 miles on it, only replaced tranny once, and is constantly approaced about selling it.
?
well my dealer sucks and so does warranty...mine is extended so 10% of somethng is not covered...so wat ill do is ******* fix the **** myself...or replace the **** that bothers me...but i still love my car..even if the wheels fall of on the freeway...its a car.....NO LIFETIME WARRANTY (I WISH IT WAS!) so **** it
My 2006 2.4L has about 65k and I've only had the shifter changed.
The quality of the interior materials is the worst I've ever seen on any vehicle EVER...but she still runs great....so far. I want to hope it'll run forever but I don't trust it.
I changed brakes/rotors at about 60K and that's all.
I'll never buy another Chevy, that's for sure....maybe a Ford. The cheapness with American cars is just awful...no wonder they're going under.

Vibration in steering wheel when braking, obviously warped rotors.
Paint is wearing off under the driver-side door, from the door not being aligned properly whilst being assembled.
Paint is wearing off on the passenger door, where it meets the fender on the passenger side. The door has been rubbing the fender when being opened, apparently, and has finally worn out the paint; also from not being assembled correctly.
Both mirrors are terribly loose. Not the housing connected to the car, but the actual mirror, in the housing; they can be easily shaken back and forth.
My second gear has a horrible wall.
Emergency brake needs to be clicked up all the way just to hold my car on a 15° driveway.
Steering makes a "clunk" when the car is parked, and the steering wheel is turned.
A plethora of interior rattles.
Passenger window rolls down at half the speed of my driver-side window.
That's all I can think of, at the moment.
Tomorrow I will call the dealership and make an appointment to go in and give them my list.

Brakes are issues for some and not for others, mine were perfect even after 10k miles. Take yours in of they arent.
If body fit is so bad its wearing off paint you probably shoulda noticed that a lot sooner, but it may still be covered if youre real close to 12months/12,000 miles.
Outside mirrors, not sure how bad yours move, but even the stock speakers will make them vibrate, there is no fix, you have to deal with it most likely
Parking brake on drum brake cars is awesome, you just need your rear shoes adjusted, my car will lock my sticky 215/45 rear tires at 50mph on dry pavement with 4 clicks, you need some maintenance. Not everything is GMs fault
Interior rattles, I would check your rearview mirror, have the dealer or yourself put some soft side velcro around the latch for rear seats(common) I dont hear too many rattles besdies those in any of the newer Cobalts Ive been in.
Passenger window? I hope that either A: your signature is wrong or B: this is a joke, because LS Cobalts have manual windows.....crank the passenger side faster,
You need to get out more, LMAO. My wife has a 2008 Mazda 3i, and the interior is no higher quality than my car with the exception of the seat cloth. The plastics are pitiful, it has like 4 different shades/sheens of black. Theres not a $15k car out there with noticeably better overall interior.

Sucks that youve got issues, ive got almost exactly the same car, 08 Black LS 5speed. its a few months older and has similar mileage to yours, I dont have ANY of the issues you have and have only ever had 2 problems with my car: exhaust heat shield bolt not installed at factory, rattled at idle, got it fixed when 2 days old, my inside rearview mirror was loose and made it sound like a noise from the whole front of dash, little bit of purple loctite on scrw and perfect for months now.

The passenger window, I had Pursuit power windows and locks installed at the dealership when I bought the car.
You bought a $13000 econobox, if you wanted superior quality you should have bought something else...
Warped rotors are common and GM has a TSB about it, so they will fix it.
The door alignments are an easy adjustment
Your 2nd gear will get better, or you're doing it wrong
The PARKING brake is horrible on ALL the Cobalts, you should have known that.
You shouldn't be turning your wheels when parked anyways
Again, $13000 econobox made of plastic, what did you expect?
The passenger window is slower in ALL the Cobalts, again a known problem you should have expected.

Warped rotors happen, not really fair to bitch much about it. I bought cheap rotors for my Grand Prix and they were absolutely fucked in 2000kms
Paint is wearing off under the driver-side door, from the door not being aligned properly whilst being assembled.
Poor assembly, could happen anywhere

I have never experienced this, could be just yours
Emergency brake needs to be clicked up all the way just to hold my car on a 15° driveway.
This is common for Cobalts, perhaps one of unacceptable few.
Steering makes a "clunk" when the car is parked, and the steering wheel is turned.
Common on every semi-modern GM I've driven, could be the intermediate steering shaft, it's a pile of crap design, plagues pretty much every model.
A plethora of interior rattles.
I've seen people from every brand complain to some extent, including Civic owners to Lexus IS series owners
Passenger window rolls down at half the speed of my driver-side window.
Mine does this too, but is it really a big deal? I'm very picky, but I don't let it bother me.

I attribute that to me though. My car would still be fine to this day if I had left it the **** alone.
Good ol' GM quality at it's finest!! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I will NEVER own another GM made vehicle again. Because of problems I've had with my car GM is losing another customer to an import company. SCREW GM!!
I agree the car is not built the best.
I have had alot of issues but I drive my car harder then most and I'm impressed about one thing!!! The ENGINE
. If I had a biggest issue it would be interior stuff, my door handles are peeling, the silver paint on the plastic wears very fast, little plastic caps fall off, so many squeks and rattles I feel like Scotty from star trek is telling me, ernie u cant push her any faster or she'll fall apart, u just can't do it
.
All and all the Cobalt is def the best looking econo box out there hands down
It is sad that a big manufacturer doesnt put quality behind there interior no matter what you pay! When you pay for something it shouldnt be falling apart less then a year later unless u push it beyond its intended use
