does anyone know if gmpartsdirect.com sells the key fob. was just wondering if i could buy it there instead of the dealer (might be cheaper)

 

I bought one off ebay. You still have to pay the dealership to program it though.

 

Yeah ebay is your bet. Most dealerships will charge you a 1/2 hour to program. Just curious because i have re-soldered a lot of gm fobs is yours broken or are you just wanting a spare?

 

well it was broken the when i resoldered it the metal got to hot and then broke when i inserted the battery it broke the metal piece. i want to get a new one though because teh only button that works is the trunk on one of the fobs and the lock button on the other. i was hoping to just find the rubber insert because that is the problem but i cant seem to find one.

 

as far as i know if you know someone with hp tuners they can setup a new fob for you, if you get one off ebay, am i correct guys?

 

Not that I know of. The fobs have to be programmed with a tech2.

I had the same problem with my fob, the rubber got "worn out" and wouldn't make good contact anymore. I just bought a fob off ebay then swapped the rubber from one fob to the other.
