Keyless entry

Hi, My keyless entry quit working all of a sudden. I changed the battery, and it still didn't work. I brought the keyfob to Autozone and they had a tester. It was showing my keyfob putting out a signal so it is working. Is it possible that the key fob can lose the Frequency? I called to see how much the dealer charged to re code the fob and it is $40.00 I hate the dealer. Is there a way to set the frequency myself that anyone knows. I know some GM vehicles you can do yourself. My only other thought is maybe a fuse fried out somewhere. It was working perfect before all this, I pushed the unlock and it unlocked one door and then just quit for good. Who knows? Any ideas?

I'm not sure about the Balt, but I know that on my old cavalier if the keyfob stopped working right you could hold the lock and unlock buttons both for 5 seconds and it would resync the keyfob code with the code in the computer.
