Keys locking in ignition?
Keys locking in ignition?
Every time i go to take my keys out of my car after shutting it off, the keys get locked in it. they get locked in the accesory position or whatever so that the electronics and stuff still work, but i cant turn them once more to take them out. i have to keep going under the steering column and opening that little hatch and pushing the button to unlock the keys, but thats getting annoying. my car has a little warranty thing through the dealership that i just got it from and so if i had something to tell them to help fix this as quickly as possible that would be great, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is probably going to sound dumb but if you have a **** ton on keys on the key ring it can **** up the lock cylinder because of the weight. It happened to my cavalier and my dads powerstoke.
I see that the word *CERTAIN* was highlighted in bold...so it's a VIN specific thing...
"Involved are CERTAIN 2008 and 2009 model year Cadillac CTS vehicles without Easy Key feature, and 2009 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 vehicles"

yes it happened to me once when i went to shut my car off i think i turned the steering wheel or something weirdly and the keys locked. i had to force the steering wheel back to nuetral pretty much and the keys came out. no clue as to why that happens but thats what it did for me. i was just like....uhhh O.o okay lol
Happened to me with my 06 LT Coupe. Had to bang on the shifter to get the key out when parking. Hubby finally replaced the entire shifter assy. back in January (after it got so bad that the shifter would move from gear to gear with even the SLIGHTEST pressure), an haven't had a problem since.
Mine has the opposite problem. The key will not turn whatsovever, and the wheel is NOT locked. I have to get the wheel to lock, and then turn it hard to the right and then left to unlock it, and then it will start. I'm afraid one day that won't work lol.
This happened to me after A night of drinking and my wife drove me home. I was pissed cause I thought she broke my car so I had to disconnect the battery till the next day. Dealer replaced it but did not hear anything about A recall. I was the "tumbler" inside the ignition. Dealer said it collapsed and would not release.
