It sounds like somebody is knocking on my back window it knocks 5 times and does it at random what the hell is it i always think somebody is behind my car does anyone else have this issue?

 

My car does this as well. I'm not sure, but I think that it might have something to do with the suspension being cold. My car only does it when I first start to drive it in the mornings.

 

normal....it's the EVAP vent valve runing through its' diagnostic tests. I could go onto dealerworld and copy and paste the bullitin...but I'm to lazy lol

 

thats weird i never noticed it til like 5 months after i got it i was drunk sitting in my car one night at mcdonalds and i heard it it scared the hell out of me i thought a cop was at my window haha

 

The first time I heard it, I thought somone was in my trunk

yea i always think someones in my trunk or im about to hit em, but yea, when ur not feelin so lazy go hop on dealer world for us

 

Condition/Concern:
A noise may be heard from the rear of vehicle; typically 3-5 knocks during initial cold start. The noise may sound like someone outside of the vehicle is tapping on the back window or on the rear exterior body panels.

Recommendation/Instructions:
This noise is from the vehicle's EVAP canister vent solenoid going through the diagnostic cleaning cycle, which is part of the software calibration set-up. Replacing the EVAP canister may not resolve the issue when the vehicle is re-exposed to a cold start. No parts should be replaced. This should be considered a normal condition for 2007 and previous model years.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Ive always wondered what the hell that noise was. none of my other cars made that noise. Thank You thread for these details.

 

Trust me, with the number of vent solenoids we replace, the cleaning cycle is your friend.

Yea, first couple times im like wtf, i thought someone was tapping on my back window

 

also when your moving with at least 3/4 tank of gas, and you come to a stop, you can actually here the gas swish back and forth. It can get pretty loud, and it sounds like knocking. This is the only car I have owed that has ever done this.

wow i never said any thing cause i thought pplw ould think im crazy because it only randomly happens haha a bit after start ...at least i know im not crazy

 

i was actually sitting in the car with my service tech messing with my fucked sunroof and we both heard that, we looked around, and didnt see anyone...he was like wtf, i was like wtf, just another thing going wrong with this car, he laughed...now i know its normal...lolz
