I know that it is a very common and widespread problem with many Cobalts, but I cannot find a concrete, definitive answer.

Recently, my car has been knocking in the steering column. I can feel it in my hands, feet, and it has been getting louder and more obnoxious every day.

I want to do all of the repairs myself since I have no warranty, but I need to know EXACTLY what needs replaced.

I know many people have had the repair done, I just want to know definitively what the problem was and what I need to order to fix the noise.

Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

 

cobalt has a book of TSB's for a knock sound.

Anything from the column, sway bar end links, control arm bushings, steering intermediate shaft... get down there and check them out. how many miles on the car?
