lets take a vote on my car

2006 ss sc.

did burnout in 2nd, loud pop, white smoke.

no obvious leaks at the time.

hard to get in any gear, grinding, sticking in gear.

leaking from bellhousing of clutch it seems now. fluid near front by radiator and back by the header area. but lower on frame.

originally thought to just be the blown clutch.

but is it possible or likely that the output seal on the axle broke and thus caused the pop, leaking/smoke, and being low on fluid caused the hard shifting but still able to be driven?

yes I am reaching. trying to get rid of this thing or w.e. someone help me out here lol.

My advice would be doing a burn out in second gear was sort of a stupid thing to do. Hope it doesn't cost you too much to fix

What fluid is low?
That would proably tell you what's leaking,

When doing your burn out did you get wheel hop? Quickest way to break a CV Axel in a Cobalt is wheel hop on a burnout.

Sounds like a clutch burt out/up. Still could be a broke axel. The open diff would just spin the busted side freely. If you have the G85 (Recaro Seats) then it might pull a little as the LSD kicks in.

No need to beat yourself up. We all make mistakes, as long as you learned

But ya, check all your fluids, and check your drive axles from the transmition. Park the car over a clean spot and see if anything is dripping down since checking the transmition oil can be a pain.

As for clutch, that shares with your brake fluid. If it's a little bit low that does NOT mean a leak. Brake fluid (And clutch fluid in this car) goes down as the brake pads wear.

So just park over something clean, Run the car, pump the clutch/brakes. See if anythings dripping down. Make sure AC is off, otherwise youll get water dripping down and that's normal.

thats what we did when I pulled up at the car lot. was the first time I noticed it was leaking. also the first time I really drove it in like 2 weeks since it happened. the fluid seemed to be coming from about the clutch housing. but of course I couldnt see well. the guy who owns the lot is going to get it in the air and check it out in the morning. if that seal is the only issue and the clutch is ok, sooooooo much stress will come off of me lol.

I can't remeber your setup but if you are talking about who I think you are it says in the thread not to do it on a stock clutch or axles
Probable damaged the tob with a piece if the clutch check that master cylinder real well for lost fluid

That's how ExSoccer says to do a burn out.

Fix your car though, we don't want to loose a good member.
