Lights went off while going 85 down I-71
So , coming home from the Mid Ohio Superbike races this past weekend , we're running about 85 in the fast lane when a Semi signaled to get over in front of me to pass a slow mover. Well , I flashed my brights at him to let him over , and as soon as I did , it killed my headlights. There I was in the dark with no lights , not even parking lights. So I switched it down to bypass the auto sensor , and back into manual lighting and they came back on. For about 10 minutes that is , and then they went out again with no warning. So , I switched it back down into " auto " for my lights and they came back on !?!? I played the light switching game for the next 230 miles , ran into all sorts of combinations I had to switch to in order to get the lights to come on, at times all I would have on were brights , nothing else , just brights. Took it in to the dealer the next day and after 2 days of tracking down the problem they called to tell me they've ordered a new light switch assembly. I hope they're right and not just guessing!
Anybody else ever experience this ? It's a 2006 Cobalt LS

update:
They called me on Friday to tell me my car was ready. I went in , dropped off the loaner truck and picked my cobalt up. Off I go , went 3 blocks down , turned on the headlights via manual over-ride of auto lighting , flashed my brights and out they went. Turned right around , took it straight back and asked to speak to a manager. He came out , check it for himself , handed me the keys to another loaner , this time it's a 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx , and now my car still sits in the shop.
They replaced the light switch unit, it didn't fix it , so now they're replacing the control module.
hmmmmm, stabbing in the dark are we ?
