It was a long time coming

Oh well, what I knew was coming finally did, the cobalt is just about dead. 25% down on compression across the board, burning oil, smoking all the time now. Hopefully it can hold on til wednesday or thursday when I get my other jeep out of the shop, then full tear down of the car, fixing all the wierd **** that was wrong, replacing the clutch, pistons, cams, and various other little things. Going to make a new turbo manifold based off the location of my old one (for obvious install reasons lol).
But yeah, we all knew this was coming, it's amazing the car held on for so long. can't believe I was daily driving it over 400whp on pump gas for quite some time and it's been over 350whp for at least 7-8 months.
I'll start a new thread when I begin the tear down and there will be plenty of pics

ha the clutch is still holding somehow, actually out lasted the motor, didn't see that one coming, but she'll be @450whp on pump gas and I'm going to try and squeeze out 500whp on race gas and high boost, should be fun. I've been planning on doing this build for a year now, just never got around to it, and didn't feel like pulling a perfectly good motor, well now, I have an excuse lol

never got a chance to run it, I was holding off going to the track til I put in the Exedy clutch, but I'll be back with vengence very soon, car should only be down for about 2-3 weeks max, and that's with me working on it at night, if all goes well with the jeep this week, I should have the motor and trans out and torn down by saturday night, then I'll get to see what damage I did, hopefully the cylinder walls are still ok, if not, well, I have a spare block just laying around anyway lol

Maybe your new motor will like my fueling tables better than the old one.

maybe, I think this motor has been going for a long time. It never acted right since it was s/c'd and at 290+whp, I think switching to the turbo only prolonged it's eventual death.

Don't throw away any of those parts!

If you are planning on throwing away the Pistons and Cams, I'll take them for shipping costs

What are your plans for making 500 horse power stick to the ground? I cant believe that will be a very easy thing to do. Were talking the ability to bust em loose at any given speed with that kind of power.

Well it is about time you killed that engine.
I have been waiting for you to start doing the rebuild.

slicks, and dr's on every set of rims lol. I just want the power, I love uncontrollably fast cars. this is it for the cobalt though once the motor is done. might start on something new next year with the same goal, but 2x the cylinders and 2x the power

Good luck, how far you going with this motor? Just leaving the block in and doing the build everyone else does?

Or you going to pull it out and sleeve it?
