loud squeak

okay i have this high pitched sqeak which i think sounds like from the back. people tell me it is the brakes. but if it was wouldn't it be when i apply the brakes. it happens once in awhile. when i apply the brakes it goes away than comes on. need help if any has this problem. i just hope some one haS INFO BEFORE I RIPP THE REAR END APART.

The "squealers" on the brakes will make more noise when you are NOT applying the brakes, so it could well be the rear pads are near done.
Easy to check, just need to pull the wheel off and take a look from the top of the caliper and see how much meat is left.

my car does this after it has been washed or driven in the rain , it usually happens when i'm backing out of my driveway. Goes away if you ride the brake for a second to clean the rust off the rotor's , atleast thats what i'm guessing causes it .

Mine groans, rears sound like metal on metal when cold. Very different from the audible wear indicators (squealers) though. And yes, 1 stop to get some heat in them and they shut up

yeah the problem fixed front break pads gone, except the back they where 50 percent gone. n ow i'm stopping on a dime. hey checkl the breaks out even if you don't think so. all you need is 14mm wrench and socket, c clamp to compress front, needle nose and twist to compress back, remove brake oil reserve cap before front is compressed. this was easyer than a oil change

Mine does the same thing from the back. High-pitched squeak when i first start driving when its raining or just rained.

checek them out this weekend you may never know. on a side note ceramic brake pads require no anti squeal compound
