Power steering fail!

I don't know were else to post this mods so sorry if its in the wrong place.

So for 2 days now my power steering has been turning off as im driving. I tried searching to see if anyone has had this problem but didn't find anything. The first time it happened i was in the middle of a bend on the highway and almost went into the wall. The cars only 3 years old. I don't know what could be causing this. I looked under the hood and there is nowhere to fill the fluid. I'm a little bit lost and pissed cause my warranty just ran out 1400 miles ago.

not a bcm problem.....the power steering module/motor in the column is what's going out. Short answer, needs a new column.

There was a recal? Really? Damn that would rock cause I don't think I could afford to fix this right now.

Just had this happen to me yesterday. Power steering failed all of a sudden as I was driving and I couldn't turn the car. I turned it off and back on and it worked for another 2 minutes and failed again. Took the car to the dealer. My bumper to bumper warranty expired last September but I only have 19000 miles on the car. Dealer called me today and said there was a ground fault in the electronic steering motor and the column would have to be replaced. Luckily, they said they are going to cover it since my warranty just expired and the mileage was low. I'm sure this was not a cheap repair and from what I have been reading, there should be a recall for the problem before someone gets in an accident.

I had the same problem with my 05 SS S/C. I had it go out once randomly like 2 years ago and it didn't happen again until about 5 months ago. Everytime I would drive the car more then 5 min I lost power steering. I had it replaced by a local shop that honored my GMPP. I paid $100 deductible and they ended up billing GM $1500 for parts and labor to replace the motor. What a f'ing brilliant design from GM. The shop had to pull out the entire column since it is all one assembly (steering column and ps motor). Then when they got the new column from GM the wheel would not align straight...also another issue GM knows about so they had to do an alignment as well.
