Exclamation Many Problems

Hey guys.. I need some help, and any input..

I had my oil changed about two months ago at Gus Revenburg.. the guys forgot to re-install the oil filter cap.. i drove to another dealer cause' i needed my brakes checked (Dan Kane)..

I pull in, and the car is dripping oil.. go to the car, and the cap is sitting on the tranny case.. it pissed all the oil out.. it was about a 8 mile drive, and I got on the freeway with the car going to Dan Kanes from Gus's.. and I got on it hard.. they said there was only 1.5 litres of oil left in the car when they drained it(what was left when he let the oil plug go and let everything left drip into a Mobil-1 bottle)..

they said nothing was wrong, bla bla bla.. since then, the car isn't the same.. it hesitates, it has stalled a couple times.. i get beat by all my friends with stock SS/SC's.. its b/s.. my exhaust sounds like **** too.. its not loud at all.. (not that has anything to do with the performance of the vehicle, I hope)..

every time i take it to have them check the car, they say nothing is wrong with it.. yet I can tell something is damaged.. just driving the car.. it doesn't have the grunt it used to.. it doesn't pull like before.. what the hell do i do? call GM Canada? write a letter? i'm lost and seriously feel like I got it in the end with no lube.. and basically, feel like i'm **** outta' luck cause' the car still runs and drives..

ah, once.. but this was waaaay after the oil change problem.. and the oil light only came on once i pulled into the service bay at Dan Kanes.. forgot to mention that..



about one month ago, i started the car, went to drive home.. and it chugged.. so bad.. it would just jump like a newbie driving stick.. wouldn't boost.. wouldn't accelerate.. so i drove it, and then the CEL went off.. i took it in, and they said it was the MAF.. and it was possible i may have sucked up water from my AEM, which they had no problem with that I had on the car and said it would NOT void the warranty.. they said they cleared the code, and everything was fine.. at the same time, i noticed oil at the top of the valve cover, and underneath the plate where the spark plugs are.. i figured the oil may have seeped in, but they said it was fine and nothing was wrong..

i cleaned my filter, disconnected the battery, tried all that stuff, and still the car is running like a dog..

wrong oil? what type did they use at the change? should b 5w-30 right?

no, they used the right oil.. Mobil-1 5W-30.. but they forgot to re-install the oil filter cap.. so the car pissed all but 1.5 litres out.. or about 1.2quarts..

no clue bro.. they wouldn't tell me.. they said it was the MAF, and that was the problem.. all they told me was that the mechanic checked and "cleared" the code from the computer and that was the end of that issue.. as for the day it pissed oil, the only light that came on that day was the oil light on the dash itself..

hmmm u should take it to the dealer, and tell them. if they find a problem, and don't label it as warranty make the oil place pay for it...it was their **** up.

Mike, what did they end up doing? replacing the valve? cause' i'm scared there is more damage internally and it cannot be heard.. but it is quickly roasting..

Update.. wow.. okay now my car likes to knock when it feels like it.. like a diesel.. with a slight grinding noise.. it'll do it on and off.. what the hell can this mean?? and when its grinding/knocking, i rev it up, and don't hear anything from the exhaust pipe, and it sounds like the engine is crackling..

anyone have any idea on this??

Self fulfilling prophecy maybe? You believe so hard that there is a problem that you manufacture one that really isn't there... kinda like those people that believe so much they are going to get fat, that they end up eating a lot more and ultimately become fat... I know it sounds like I'm mocking you, but I'm serious... sometimes we as owners see one little issue and it's the end of the world... like when I had a blown spark plug a week ago, I swore that my car was a piece of **** after that, but in reality, it was just in my head...

I understand what your trying to say.. but when my car starts to chatter.. and miss or detonate, and clunk like a diesel, i don't know how much to really say to that..

no good

Sounds like you did fry something. I would check the basic stuff;
1)spark plugs, are they in normal running condition or are they dicloered or have build up;
2) take the dipstick out and smell it, does it smell like normal oil or does it of an off smell, like its burned, same thing with the oil cap;
3) useing a mechanics stethascope(can get these almost anywhere, or just a bat) place it on and around the valve cover and head, see if there is any odd sounds coming from there (make sure engine is ideling);
4) check the antifreeze for contaiments such as oil

This will help to determine if the the head gasket is blown or if something internal is broken
If there is any problems with the car after an oil change that was caused by the company, they are liable for it, as long as you reported it to them the same day.

thanks for the info.. as a matter of fact, just recently they replaced all the plugs, and two of the oxygen sensors..

i reported to them the day it happened because the car was at the other dealership getting the brakes fixed..

the dipstick and oil cap smell like crap.. almost like gas mixing with the oil.. the car only has 21g km's on it.. roughly 13.5g miles..

i just keep getting the run around.. so i am just going to keep driving it until it goes kaboom..

If you are smelling fuel in the oil, then its more than likely your piston rings that have gone to $h!t.
The good side is, now you can do internal mods

that same thing happened to me i lny made it a mile though till the oil light came on. Dont know how you got 8. Something defanetly got messed up you lost most of that oil in the first mile the rest just didnt have enough pressure to get out. I turned mine off as soon as the light came on and my car is fine

I guess you guys got lucky.. mine is starting to knock more often now.. as if its not getting oil pressure or something.. quite funny how i have 1/2 dozen videos on my phone of the car going crazy, and they don't believe it..

Yyyeeeessss!!

Okay, shorty update..

went to Les Standford earlier to have my steering wheel replaced (the leather was cracking and stuff), kinda cool too, I got the 2008 buttons..

but w/e..

they finally heard the raunchy thing knock and ping and ding.. they are tearing down the motor to find out what is wrong with it.. finally, after nearly a year of this ****, they have finally heard it to be able to bring it in and fix it.. just thought i'd let everyone know.. Les Stanford is the place to be..

and I'll let everyone know ASAP what the problem was in case anyone else ever experiences the same problem that i went through..

lack of oil pressure i guess caused a problem..

they haven't been able to get the car to make the knocking again.. so they said they will wait on me to see if it has gone away after i pick the car up and try it out..

hopefully that was the problem.. to say the least, i'm still going to sue my home dealership because they said it was nohing to worry about, and it wasn't a safety issue.. and the shop foreman here in Windsor at Gus Revenburg heard the car making the insane knock.. and said for me to be on my way with no worries.. so yea.. we will see soon enough..

Mike, as for the re-building the head, they didn't have to go that far..
