More boost than normal

Ok so my car is a 2.4 2006 sedan and I installed the zzp stage 2 sc kit on it. It has a 3.1 pulley. Well I had installed a zzp downpipe and a badmab header a while back and my boost dropped down to 8psi which is where it was supposed to be at. Now out of nowhere my car is making 12 psi and slowly rises to 15psi as i go higher into rpms. I already checked to see if my cat was bad and it looks brand new still. Anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing me to have this abnormal boost?

lol if you call 90 degrees cold then yes haha

its been like this for about a month i just didnt think too much of it after i checked everything james told me to check.

When I log i would try and do it early in the morning or late at night because i didnt wanna log in 100 degree weather so it would usually be from 79 - 90 degrees

If your car gets more boost then usual. The only possible factor it can be is either colder air or a restriction in exhaust. Cat, etc

must be a restriction then. there hasnt been any significant changes in weather. been lowest 79 highest 89 at night/morning when i log. Dont know if you remember that video i sent you of how the boost would rise from 12 to 15. Do you think its my exhaust that is causing the higher boost? maybe something is lodged in there because it was at 8psi for the a long time then out of nowhere went to 12 psi.

oh also I hear that the gmpp exhaust is 2.25 inch...do you think I would be able to replace the 2.25 inch with 2.5 inch piping and be good?

I'd replace it with 2.5 mandrel if possible. Just get a magma flow setup from zzp

2.5 inch exhaust = less restrictive.

I will look into replacing the piping...lol. I love the sound of my exhaust. Also would hate to have to sell it for like half of what I played for it .
I'm a little stuffed with school this week, have 3 exams, but I will get under the car and remove the exhaust and dp to see if I see any problems

Yeah I know I'm going to try and replace my piping but I'm thinking something might've gotten stuck in cuz I was at 8psi with the header/dp/exhaust and I didn't change anything and my boost is at around 12psi and spiking now. Dk how something could've gotten in there though

-_- lol its the same amt of boost going through!

reason for the all of a sudden concern on this is because I want to drop a pulley to 2.9 and I hear that getting around 15 psi on the stock engine in this car can be bad so i dont wanna be near that lol

I wouldn't think 15 psi on a stock 2.4 would be that bad. Besides you can't really go based on boost, but have to go on power. 2.4s can handle a lot more power than a 2.2 so you should be ok with a 2.9. Good luck getting your high boost figured out

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I'm having the same issue but with the lnf stock Turbo on my 09 balt. Factory is 15 yet last night I was peaking 16-18psi and my vacuum was 21-23. According to the digital display it was around 70°f but I think it was a little colder than that. Not sure if normal. Also there is no popping coming from the exhaust. I switched my gas from wawa to mobile idk if no popping is good or bad. My main worry is the Turbo at this point.

You'll be fine..The stock turbo can handle 22psi boosting..more then that you'll be buying a new turbo

the LNF is set to make 260 hp from the factory. So if the ECM detects less than that due to weather, air density, temp. etc it will compensate. when i first bought my car, it was in January. I would regularly boost to 18 psi and stay 16 to redline. As it got hotter, the car spikes to 16 or 17 and then holds 14 to redline. That is how the factory ECM works.

So in a nutshell, it is normal. now if you car started going over 20 psi. then something is wrong.

Yep. It is totally normal. when you are tuned it is a different story.

What other minor problems are you having?
